30 June 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Got up early as usually[sic] this morning. Had a good day to work today. Wasn't as hot as it has been. After work I went down and ate at Grandma's. Got a letter from Louise this evening. Called [Etters] up tonight to tell her to [joison] Louise a message. I went to bed about 7:30. I'm trying to get a good night's sleep. Monthly spending $35.95. TOTAL SPENDING FROM JAN $281.12.
Hmmm. Wonder if Louise dumped him.

Odd day. Slept okay. Had a really good last workout. I rode my bike there and back. I took the bus down to the UDist, although I realized too late that I should have walked. I got something to drink at the SBux and then mailed the Tolstoy book to my cousin Jen (Hank's kid); God, what a pit that post office is. Really, the whole UDist is an armpit. They do nothing about all the street people smoking weed and hanging out all over and the whole street just looks like a dump. Used to be a nice area.

Anne cut my hair and did a good job (at around 10:45). We theorized that the barbers don't cut it as short on top because maybe they think I need something of a combover up there. (!!!) It was nice to talk to her.

Then I went down to the Big 5 sports place and got some new goggles and then sat in the U Bookstore and perused my phone. Amazon sent out the notice that they're closing up Car Lust. Kind of sad. We were all kind of excited about moving it somewhere else, but I'm not sure it will happen. We'd need a space for it, someone would have to manage it and pay for it (although Blogger would work, and it's free). I dunno. It's going away July 7. I don't know how we'll get the content out. Good run though.

Spousal Unit met me down there and we went to Pagliacci's for lunch and then just came home. And waited around until 2 when we were supposed to meet the furnace and gas contractor, but they never showed. I piddled around, got my field gear ready for tomorrow, and then watched most of The Man From UNCLE movie. Not bad. Okay. I really liked the lead chick, Alicia Vikander, she was adorable. Dinner, walk, etc. I wore shorts all day expecting it to get sunny and it did. . . .at like 3. Looks like I'll have to get a rental car from the MKE airport to get to FdL.

29 June 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Got up early this morning and went to work. Had a hard day today. Sure was hot. When I got home I ate at Grandma's and then came home. [Volow] called tonight and so did Louise. I saw Louise for a little while in the park tonight. Got home about 10:00. Did not feel too great tonight. Sure was happy to get to see Lou.
Today was okay. Slept okay. Workout was really good. I rode my bike in. Was cloudy there and on the way back. I did a little Cascadia work when I got home and also M. said the alcohol paper was good and to have a go at submitting it. Yay! Hope it flies this time. Not getting additional funding right away though. I went in to Cascadia and finished some stuff and will go to Whidbey for a small survey on Friday. I had expected that, but thought it was a bigger one. We'll not get there until 10:30 so I could theoretically work out beforehand, but I decided to just do a full one tomorrow (Thursday) instead and leave it at that. Can't do legs much anyway. I left a little before noon and had lunch at McD's and then changed in to jeans (from shorts) because it was still cloudy, and then went up to NGate to get some saline solution at the Target, but fortunately they were out -- would prefer not buying there anymore. Also went to the Sports Authority which went bankrupt and is selling everything and got some jock straps and socks.

I know everyone reading this is terribly excited and interested to learn about my jock straps.

Word of advice: Do NOT go shopping for jock straps online.

I met Fiona at the mall SBux and we had a nice visit. Came home (drove Mustang) and played guitar for a while and then made up dinner. Walked to Riot Aid and post office to mail a pig ear to someone's dog. Yes, a pig ear.

Oh, I sent an email to some dope at SDOT. They sent a notice they're putting in the (pardon my French, but) GOD DAMN FUCKING SPEED BUMPS in July. Yeah, of course, the contact person is out of the office this week. Probably a coincidence that she'll avoid all the irate phone calls. I'm going to make up a sign saying GO AWAY SDOT and put it out when they're working.

28 June 2016 (Tuesday)

On this day in 1954 (Monday):
Got up early this morning and went back to work. Didn't have such a hard day today. Went[sic] I got home I went [seening] for a while. $.40. Saw Louise for a little while tonight. She [such] pissed me off tonight. Also went to a summer band practice tonight. Didn't get to bed tonight until about 11:00. Spent $.40.
What did that young lady do?

Okay day today. Slept fairly well but needed assistance at first and then again at 3:15. Seem to still be waking up and not exactly having an anxiety attack (or whatever) but mostly just my mind starts going about a hundred miles an hour. Anyway, I had a semi-decent workout. My left knee really hurt. May have slept on it wrong. But my back was being grumpy as well. I was going to not do much leg stuff Thursday anyway, but it looks like I have to go out in the field Friday anyway so Thursday will be mostly upper body day (last before leaving).

Work went fine (downtown). I finished editing the alcohol paper and sent that off and then fiddled around with all of the merging code to mostly ignore the whole gigantic file at the end. Too unwieldy. I ate lunch -- leftovers from lunch Sunday -- out behind the hospital. Nicely sunny. The wrap I had was decidedly meh. It was vegetarian 'chicken' and was mostly bland. Needed bacon. Heh. Ride home was uneventful. Walked up to the bank on 85th to cash two reimbursement checks.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I finally (!) finished the Tolstoy biography I started reading last fall when I was at home in Wisconsin. I had forgotten my iPad and didn't bring any other books to read so I was kind of stuck with whatever my parents had sitting around. This was about the most dull-but-vaguely-interesting thing around that would be suitable for before-bed reading. You know, interesting enough but still sleep-inducing. Turned out to be fairly interesting. I'd not known much about Tolstoy before, but I'd spent several months reading War and Peace. W&P was okay, although not terribly memorable for me. Besides, there was something written in it from Hank (my uncle) to my mom, apparently from the late 1960s. I'm not sure if Tolstoy is that big of a deal these days or not although I recall W&P and Anna Karenina being kind of a Big Literature thing from when I was a kid (leastways, Peanuts had storylines on both of those). Apparently, he was a major global figure while he was alive, and seems to have been more influential up through the 1960s? Whatever. He was bizarre and I don't know why people like to follow people like that like zen masters.

27 June 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Went to Sunday school at the [Mormon] church this morning. Came home and got a bite to eat and met Louise at the show $.50. After the show I came home and slept for a while. [pour] Louise for a while tonight at the [penk]. Got home about 12:15 and went to bed. Sure do not feel very good tonight. Had [less] a bad day today. Spent $.50.
Dunno why he had a bad day.

I had a decent one. I tried taking 2 chamomiles around 8 last night wondering if it might get me over the 2:30 thing, and it did: instead, I bolted awake at 11:15. But then, after being awake a while, I slept all the way to a little after 4. Didn't feel all that great though. Workout was spectacular though. I rode in. The ride back was really good, too, my legs felt really strong coming back up the hill, so much so that I handily passed some guy who had passed me on the trail. I did a couple of things here and then went to Cascadia. I didn't do much except get the one summary done. A potential client called back to tell me that no one had gotten back to her last Friday so I reminded Meg about it. Also I learned that they had done a survey almost next door to the evil project up on Roche Harbor and found nothing, which is good. I think at least the residents like us even if the tribes don't. Apparently when they were there the dopes were still working at the Tarte place (i.e., the evil project). Ha. Losers. Screening.

So I left there and then went and ate a quickie lunch at the Panda place at the QFC and then went to the Century Link store in Greenwood. Doesn't look as if the price will be all that different from the Comcast package, but possibly maybe $30 a month cheaper. We'll see. I left there, went home, and then walked to Uvil for absolutely no reason except to sit at the SBux; well, and to get the exercise. Was pleasant enough. Made sure not to eat too much when I got back even though I was really hungry. I tried a new chicken recipe, called 18th century fried chicken although I didn't fry it. Basically just chicken brined in red wine vinegar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, green onions (I just used some regular). The recipe would then fry it in batter, but I just slapped it on the grill. Meh. Didn't do much for the flavor although I didn't marinate it long enough or with enough stuff.

Went to UVil again for bagels. Warm today like 83.

26 July 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Got up early this morning and started painting on the house. At 11:00 I caught the bus and rode up to where Louise is waiting and rode home with her. Painted on the house all afternoon. Saw Louise down town this evening and got to [had] with her for a couple of hours. Walked home and I had a bite to eat before I got off the [had]. Am getting to bed about 12:00 tonight.
Early night. . . .

I had a pretty darn decent day. Slept okay, although I am continuing my streak of waking up around 2:30 and having my mind start racing. I slept until almost 5 and felt good enough to go to Mass. I, err, also did so because the Youth Group was having their car wash and my old crush from the 1980s (Julie) runs the Youth Group so I decided to bring my Mustang down and have them wash it. I dropped it off before Mass and they did it while I was in there. Decent job, too. Yes, I chatted with Julie a bit.

Didn't do much else this morning. I watched most of the Indycar race, left with about 8 laps to go. Just did the usual shopping thing. Came home and then watched the NASCAR race (last half anyway). Good finish. Two passes on the last lap. Then I spent a while cooking and a bit of cleaning and such. We walked down to the UVil because I'd forgotten to get a bagel when we were there this afternoon. I'm surprised the Spousal Unit went for it. Got my bagel free by answering the trivia questions (answers: Liquid Crystal Display, and Green Bay Packers; I shall let the future reader ponder what the questions were).

Nice walk, but warm, 79 today.

25 June 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Got up early as usual and went to work. Was tired when I started this morning. Had a hard day. When I got home and ate at Grandma's and then got a little [ust] before play at the down[sic] at the [Tooey] tonight. [Elmer bugget] was her and then went and say Louise for a little while. Got in about 1:15 this morning.
Interesting day. Slept okay. We went out for breakfast and even though I ate a decent amount I was hungry all morning. The in-laws (four women) were coming up to see us so we left around 10:15 and hit two estate sales in nice neighborhoods. Spousal Unit got a couple of things. We met them at 11:30-ish at UVil and they wanted to go to some Japanese place there and the wait was 1 hour and 15 minutes! They decided to anyway, so I decided to go to the IMA in the meantime. Turned out well, because the pool had some open lanes so I went swimming! I haven't seriously swum laps in probably 30 years. Worked out well though, the first few laps I had to rest in between but eventually I got into a steady rhythm and went for about 30 minutes. Form probably wasn't the greatest, but I did okay. I actually did much better than I thought I would and wasn't as wiped out as I'd thought. I did have a bit of trouble walking right afterwards though. But it went quite well.

They had actually been seated after 30 minutes so by the time I got near the UVil they had already started eating so I went to the QFC and scarfed down a donut because I was dying. I went up and sat down for a few minutes, enough to try some form of dessert. . . .thing. . . .and guzzle two Diet Cokes. Then we just wandered around with them. JAYsus, a ridiculous amount of eye candy down there today, too. Didn't get out of there until 5. Kind of nice day though. We just came home and ate a quick dinner of leftover pizza and went walking. Oddly, I wasn't really very hungry all afternoon. Dunno why swimming would do that. Maybe it was just because it cleared out my GI tract of anything gaseous. It does that. Anyway, I'm really glad I swam.

Me and swimming: We had an Olympic-sized pool in Fond du Lac and for two summers my brother and I would swim after work -- we both worked for the City Parks Dept. -- so I got at least decent at it. We would go for a mile in a little under an hour. I eventually decided to bike instead of swim (boring) but I did it a few times when I moved out here, but mostly dropped it for working out. I'd like to do it once or twice a week but the thing is crowded.

24 June 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Went to work as usual this morning. Had another hard day. After work ate and then went down and played for the U.S.O. dance. I saw Louise [went] she came down town to meet me before the dance. Went[sic] I got home I [with] back by her house but I did not get to see her. Got in about 10:00. [Sam Lair] $2.00. Spent $2.00.
Baaaaaad little felon.

I had a decent day. Took a loooong time to get to sleep last night though. I think I dozed off for a while but then woke up with a start and then couldn't get back to sleep. Had a wicked workout this morning though. Really killed myself daid. Came home, scarfed bagel, went to Cascadia and I was the only one there until almost 11. I finished the report after swearing profusely at Word. JAYsus Christ, why do they make it so difficult and opaque and inobvious to make F***ING page numbers???!!!

I sent it without any F***ING page numbers whatsoever.

What else. Had lunch at NGate and then dropped some stuff off at the Goodwill on 15th and 145th. Bought four dumbbells for the Spousal Unit to hopefully use. Came home for a bit and then drove to the UVil. Was going to walk but it was a little late and perhaps might have rained so I just drove. I got a bunch of fruit to have for dessert. One week to get trimmed down. Gonna try to be more high protein, low carb (bread and stuff) for the next week.

Walked to the post office and then around some more. Had a four cat night!

23 June 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Got up and went to work as usual this morning. Took my Plymouth instead of [Elmers] car. Sure work[sic] hard today. After supper at Grandma's I came home. Louise called and I met her and was with her most of the evening. Dad picked me up about 9:30 and I came home with him. Am awfully tired. Am getting to bed about 10:30 tonight.
I think in this one day he drove on a suspended license and then saw the girl illegally as well.

So, today. Odd. Slept okay. Workout started okay, but a muscle in my back got grumpy early on so I had to cut it short and just did ab stuff and rode the bike. Was in the lower left side but not where it usually spasmed. Probably strained it overnight while sleeping on the floor (Jack and Daisy were hogging the couch). Came back and halfway through my bagel the chimney guy came over. Seemed okay. Could barely understand him though. I worked here most of the morning strugging with that stupid Coptic data problem. Now even some of the values in Access are buggy. I could look at one ID that said 6469.11 in it but then the exact same number in another table would not match with it! Then I would do a search in the original table while looking at the number in the field. . . .and it couldn't find it! WTF? Just weeeeeeeeird. Gonna work on it more tomorrow.

Was emailing with Engi and she wanted to meet up for lunch so we did that and it was really nice seeing her again. Gawd, while I was waiting outside the SBux a perfectly gorgeous, tall fashion-model in a short skirt and heels walked by and I was the only one in the whole line of guys who didn't stare. Mainly because I was typing something into my phone and decided anyone who dressed like that was just dying for attention and I wasn't going to go along with the crowd. So there. Neener.

Of course, when she walked back I checked her out. Heh.

Anyway. Saw her for lunch and then hung out a bit more and then came home and did some more junk. Oh, on the way I got her a gift card for Ivar's for her wedding present. It was rainy pretty much all day except in the middle. We walked at NGate. Supposed to be rainy tomorrow, too, and then sunny for next week.

22 June 2016 (Wednesday) (And Daisy's Birthday!)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Got up early this morning and went to work as usual. Had another hot day in the orchard. After dinner I went down and [got musical] by the park and watched the service. Louise and her girl friends went to church tonight so got to see her a little while. Nancy [Dueland] picked me up on the way home and gave me a ride. Got to bed about 10:30.
I had a decent and productive day. Slept pretty well, did the usual 2:30 wakeup AGAIN. But had a really great workout. I was thinking of swimming, but ended up just workout out really hard for quite a while. Said hello to Uber Hottie. Rode there and back.

I. . .what did I do all morning? I fiddled around here for a while and then went to Cascadia and finished editing the one report and then did a bit of Coptic stuff. Left there before noon and went to NGate for lunch. I came home and calmed myself down and tried once again to find a way around my stupid Apple password/security question crap, failed, and then went to the Apple Store at the UVil and they put me on the phone with someone and we fixed it. I could not find that contact info anywhere. But I was able to change the questions -- and write down my answers! -- and change the password. Cashed a couple of checks and then sat in SBux for a while. I think every attractive female within a mile of the place was there for some reason. Well, it was a decently nice day. I walked there and back.

Leftovers for dinner and then walked.

Daisy is 7 today (or thereabouts).

Tuesday, June 21, 2016

21 June 2016 (Tuesday)

On this day in 1954 (Monday):
Got up early this morning and went to work as usual. Sure was hot in the orchard today. Sure was tired when I got home tonight. After supper at Grandma's and[sic] went down town and bought myself a water bag $1.60. As soon as I got home I went to bed about 7:00. [Lastional] to the [indis] for a while. Spent $1.60.
Aha, so he's working in an orchard. That explains not working when it's raining. Eastern Washington has a lot of fruit orchards.

So, today. Not bad. I woke up and went to the TV room at 11:45 and it was raining (yay!). Woke up again at 2:30. Blehh. That meant I slept in three different locations! Four is the record. Anyway, ended up sleeping until almost 5 so that was good. Workout was. . . .okay. Felt kinda tired. As in not terribly energetic. Went downtown and convinced Rowena to get coffee with me and then got quite a lot done today. I did some investigating on the SPSS problem and then a couple of other things, and then revised the alcohol paper for the one millionth time. Oh, walked down the hill to have lunch with Janet, very pleasant. Walk back up wasn't even that bad. Stayed there until 3. Bus ride home was uneventful.

Nothing else exciting. Walked around here. The Spousal Unit talked with Norma the neighbor. Apparently, the whole story about the men in the basement for 6 hours was kind of a confusion about the MRI she'd had (still making her a bit whacky from the meds). So she wasn't really all that loopy.

Monday, June 20, 2016

20 June 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Slept in until about 10:00 this morning. Got up and unpacked the car this morning. Went to Grandma's for dinner and then went to the show at the Yakima $.65. When I got home about 5:00 I went to bed and listened to the radio. Vera called up tonight and I talked with her for a while. Spent $.65.
Dangitall. Slept. . . .well, kinda badly last night. Was a double-ambien night last night. In a minor way. I think I may have dozed off at first but not for long, and then I woke up again at 2:45. Ended up sleeping until about 4:45 so that was good. My brand spankin' new alarm clock worked but it beeped instead of the radio though. I fixed that today.

Awesome workout. I rode in, too. Sadly, the uber-hottie wasn't there like she said she would be. Came home and got right in on last week's monitoring report. Reminder: Call the client tomorrow. Got it all done, mostly, and then went to lunch at McD's and then did a bunch of Coptic work. I learned something bad about SPSS. . .  .AGAIN. I was trying to merge two data sets together to get the age from one set. So I was doing that, and decided to check it by doing it in Access, too. And they were different: Access got 200 more matches. Huh. Odd. So I checked on one. The ID number of both display in Access and SPSS as (e.g.) 135.11. BUT: The SPSS one has another little window that showed it to really be 135.11999999980. Or something like that. WTF!!?? I suspect that when I enlarged the number from 15.0 (no decimal) to 15.2 it. . .I dunno. Maybe there's junk leftover in that memory location? Anyway, since the one file had 135.11 and the other one had 135.11999999980 it, of course, couldn't match the two. Grrrrrr.

So I wrestled with that for a while. That was basically my day. Put ribs in the slow cooker around 10 and they turned out really well. We walked south and there was a AAA truck in front of Sunny's house. Apparently their 1984 Accord had a bad alternator so the guy put it on the street and they'll tow it tomorrow. We suggested taking it to Salmon's over on 25th since they've done good work for us before. Chatted with a neighbor who had put gas in  -- and an AC -- and loved it. He said the AC was the best thing they'd ever done. Probably will be.

Oh, I also got this via email:

"Dear Anthony,

"STTR [Seattle Translational Tumor Research] has expanded to include Anogenital cancers. You have been recommended to join and attached you will find a detailed letter addressed to you and signed by Eric Holland and Denise Galloway for your perusal."

Man. If someone had told me 30 years ago when I was embarking on my archaeology PhD that I would someday be involved with frickin' ANOGENITAL cancer. . . . .

19 June 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Got up early as usual but did not have to go to work because of rain this morning. Went back to bed after breakfast and slept until .[sic]  after dinnner got my check cashed that I got today. Candy [back] $.50. Worked on the car and around the house this afternoon. Left at 6:00 for Maris Lake to play a dance there tonight. Got back home at 3:30 this morning. Spent $.50.
So I woke up AGAIN this morning at like 3:45. Today I said "F*** it" and took 1/4 ambien and went back to sleep until 5:15, thankyouverymuch. No freakin' way I was going to ruin another weekend day being dead tired. Felt so rested I even went to Mass. I sat down in my usual area and noticed that Marge was all by herself so I went and sat next to her. She liked that. Made me hold her hand during the Our Father though. After the handshaking she patted my arm and said "That was a good boy".

Came back and changed the litter box and a couple of other little chores. Watched a bit of the second-tier racing. Oh, when I got up I watched almost all of the F1 race from Baku, Ajerbajian. However you spell it. Meh. Also vacuumed the Honda out.Last Thursday I heard some buzzing in the vent like a leaf got stuck so I turned it on full blast and all sorts of junk came flying out. I Lemon Pledged the plastic surfaces, too. Need to do that once a year to prevent cracking and I think it works quite well.

We went to UVil as usual. It was pleasant out so we ate outside. Uneventful after that. Came home, futzed around for a while, did a little guitar. I need to work on finger strength more.

Saturday, June 18, 2016

18 June 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Got up early as usual this morning. Had a hard day today. Was sure tired. Ate at Grandma's this evening. Came home and got a [late sleep]. Louise called up and I talked to her a little while. Played for the [Tury] dance tonight. Dad took me down and I walked most of the way home. Got to bed about 1:15. Tel. $.10. Eats $.10. Spent $.20.
Man did I have an up and down day. Started down since I FRICKIN' WOKE UP AT QUARTER TO 4. I napped a bit before 6 when the Spousal Unit got up and then again at around 8:30 for a while, so today went pretty well in that regard. We had breakfast in. I don't think I did much the rest of the morning except a little cleaning.

Decided to go to Redmond Town Center for lunch since they have a Pallino there, an Italian place that used to be at UVil. Was kind of cold all day, like maybe 63 and pretty rainy most of the day. We went to the Kohl's after lunch and I bought two pairs of shorts. I have particular requirements in shorts: Must be heavy weight fabric, cargo pants design, and 9" inseam. And some smaller stuff. Hard to find. But I got two, and then we went to the DQ. And then made a stop at the QFC and then home. I decided I really needed to go to the gym for a while because I felt like a tired, fat blob of goo. So I did and good thing! The uber hottie was there. Well, not uber hottie. Nice young thing, usually upstairs when I get up there and she just does her workout, doesn't visit much or anything, just does her thing. Does it well, too, she looks great (in both a hot sense and an aesthetic one; she's got a great form). Anyway, we chatted a bit since she'd cut her hair really short and I had to mention it (we'd exchanged pleasantries before). Anyway, that was nice to see someone familiar.

Came home and we went to dinner at the Red Robin at NGate because it looked threatening. Not a bad dinner. We paid for the first time via a little device on the table which is great because we don't have to wait for the tab. Now that they're jacking up the minimum wage we'll be seeing more automation -- and, of course, fewer jobs which anyone with two brain cells to rub together could see coming, but they did it anyway. Not that the people enacting it are stupid, really, they just don't give a rip about the people they purport to.

Anyway, did a little walking but the Spousal Unit's guts were acting up so we just came home. While we were there we got one lightning and thunder and it was raining pretty heavily.

17 June 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Got up as usual about 5:30 this morning and went to work. Had a hard day. Came home and went down to Grandma's and had supper. Came home and cleaned up and played for the U.S.O dance at the Y. Saw Louise for a little while tonight. [Candor longso an lars] tonight. Getting to bed about 12:30. Wonder if I can take it tomorrow. $.10 eats. Spent $.10.
Well, dude, if you're getting up at 5:30 you probably shouldn't be going to bed at 12:30.

I had a reasonably decent day. Jack was hogging up the couch blanket so I had to sleep on the floor, which, as usual, isn't too bad. Daisy was almost right next to me in the electric heated little cat bed. I think I needed some assistance after a small anxiety attack (or whatever) last night though. But I ended up sleeping until 4:45. Had an awesome workout. Did I bike in? Yes, I did. Went okay. It was sunny this morning but a little cold.

Went to Cascadia andI was the only one there most of the morning. I got a good start on the report for the monitoring from Wednesday. Chris does a good job. Fills out the monitoring form really well and has everything in order. I try to work with him as much as possible. Also archived another project from last week. I left there around 11:40 and went to NGate for lunch and then gassed up the Mustang at the Spam's Club. Home, brush teeth, and then went to UVil. Sat at SBux for a bit and then went to the QFC and got dinner stuff. Decided to use the leftover riesling wine to make kind of a coq au vin: fried bacon, drained, put in some mushrooms, browned the chicken, and then dumped in wine and heavy cream and some flour. Deeeeeelicious. Had some of the wine, too. Walked at NGate because it was rainy.

16 June 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Got up [in mandy] this morning about 5:30 and went to work. Didn't have such a bad day today. After work went down to Grandma's and had supper. Lola and Ray had come over for the day and I got to see them a little while. Walked around for a while by Louise's place tonight. Came home and had a little bite to eat and got to bed about 10:15.
Well, he's got a job but I'm not sure what it is.

I had a weird day. Spousal Unit didn't go to work, so I slept on the couch the whole night and did well, but woke up at 4, blehh. Got out and it had rained shortly before then. I was thinking I would have a lousy workout but it went really well. I even went running! Up on the indoor track. I killed that, too. Knees didn't hurt although my right calf was getting kind of sore.

Came home and did Coptic stuff the whole morning. Was reasonably productive although SPSS was doing weird stuff again. Like I say, software is steadily getting worse. Worked until 11:30.

Some sad(?) news. Norma, Marge, and a young nurse lady were walking across the street to our house and I guess Norma wanted to visit. She had a walker and was not looking very steady. Well. Turns out she'd been in the hospital last week for 7 days! She sat on the steps and started telling us a story about how she was downtown with her three daughters (I think) and 5 men in dark suits asked them to come with them and they took Norma down to the basement of a hospital and had her sit on a cold, hard table in the dark without any food for 6 hours! All this time Marge was taking the Spousal Unit behind my back and telling her that something had apparently gotten wonky with Norma's medications and she was. . . .well, a bit off her rocker. She seemed fairly normal but obviously was kinda out of it. Made me feel sad. I hope she gets over this.

Anyway. We went up to the Lake City Taco Slime for lunch, came home, I did more work, and then we went to UVil for dinner stuff. Egads, the place was crawling with eye candy! Figures, right when the Spousal Unit comes back. Anyway, we had a little snack there, too. Came home, mowed the yard, etc. Did a little guitaring. Walked up to the Riot Aid on 85th.

15 June 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Got up early this morning and went to work. It started to rain so only worked an hour. Came home and then went down to the church for a while. After dinner I went to a show $.65. Afterwards I had supper and then helped dad a little while and then got to bed early. [Velma] called me about 10:00 [most hon] and Louise got home from a party. An not too tired as usual tonight. Spent $.65.
So I just got done spending ten minutes typing the most foul language imaginable at Apple. Am just furious with those nitwits. I've been trying to change my password. Well, I can't without answering some stupid security questions ("Where were you on January 1, 2000?") Well, who the hell knows what I might have answered? My home? Seattle? Wedgwood? SITTING ON MY ASS IN FRONT OF THE TV ALL DAY? Can't change the questions without answering the questions. Can't do ANYTHING without answering the questions. No support number. Nothing. And now this evening I can't even use the old password for anything. They are just infuriating me beyond belief.

I'm seriously considering dumping anything electronic and going back to CDs for everything.

Anyway. Had a short but rather intense anxiety attack (or whatever) but it passed quickly with a little assistance and sleeping on the floor. Twice I felt like a little paw pushed me in the butt last night. Slept pretty well actually.

I drove to the gym and then worked at home. I got quite a bit done today. I finished the one report, and then after lunch at McD's I shipped the boxes of heavy fraction sediments to Wenke in Michigan. What a relief to get rid of those! I've been schlepping them around for years and I really shouldn't have them. Plus they took up a lot of room. I went to UVil after that and sat around for a while after cashing the check for the shipping.

OH! I also took some stuff down to the church and Julie my old crush was there. !!!!!! Was nice to see her again. Didn't chat much, but it sure made me happy the rest of the day. (Until I started dealing with Apple, of course).

I played the gee-tar for a while, this time doing the chords for Bob Seeger's Night Moves song. It's really very simple -- D C G C D -- but it got me doing things a little differently again and that helps.

Walked down to the UVil after dinner and back. Nice walk. Now just waiting for Spousal Unit to text that she's over by the UW.

14 June 2016 (Tuesday)

On this day in 1954 (Monday):
Got up this morning about 5:00. Had breakfast and then went to [works] a [shopping]. Got put in a [dogs] work. Dad came after me. Went to dinner at Grandma's and then came right home. [Volver] called me up for a while tonight. Sure am tired. Went to bed a little after 7:00. It was raining when we [past] work this evening.
Didn't really understand a lot of that.

I just got back from walking at NGate because IT WAS ONLY 55 DEGREES TODAY. AND IT'S JUNE. THIS SUCKS. And there were rain showers on the radar and I didn't want to be wet or cold, so there.

Anyway. Me and Jack slept in the bed the whole night! Until 4:30. It was awesome. Oddly, however, I didn't have that good of a workout. Just felt blah the whole time. Came home, ate bagel, and then headed downtown. I got a decent amount done today, although our Internet connection was wonky there all day so I didn't get to send anything out. Was actually kind of tired. Lunch was an adventure. I usually get a scone at the coffee sho, but they were out and I hadn't brought much cash so I had to go back upstairs and get more and then go get something else. Didn't sit outside because it had taken so long. Well, it was very cool, née, COLD, anyway. Bus ride home was uneventful.

I made some Velveeta shells and cheese with jalapeno. That will be the only time. The first day it was okay, but maybe a little too spicy, but today it was just way too dry and ick. Didn't eat much.

So, last free night as a bachelor! Kinda nice.

13 June 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Got up about 12:00 today. Dad came home and took me to Grandma's to eat dinner and then I went over to Shirley's place and practiced a little while. Slept some this afternoon and walked down town. Play a solo at the [Marians] Church Young Peoples ministry today. Went down to [Valon's] apartment for a while tonight. Got to talk to Louise for a while today. Eats $1.00. Spent $1.00.
The big news for today is that I slept in the bed the entire night! Go me! Jack was right next to me the whole night. I woke up at a little before 3:30 but I think I managed to go back to sleep for a while. At any rate I appeared to wake up right before 4:30. Jack climbed up on my chest and just purred and purred. Got up, and rode my bike to the IMA despite it being pretty cloudy. No rain on the radar so I figured I could get away with it. Wasn't bad. Had a great workout, but it's kind of dead around there because graduation was this past weekend.

I came home and left for Cascadia pretty quickly because I wanted to get the report done, or mostly done today. Which I did. I even worked in a picture of my fox friend. Jana looked it over and thought it was okay to leave there as kind of an easter egg. Had lunch there, too, and got the one monitoring project ready for this week. I left a little before 1:30 and decided to go to the SBux because I was wiped out and needed a break. Meh. Came home and puttered around, did a little bit on the guitar. Made dinner. Walked. My hands are just getting warmed up from the walk! Very windy.

Some Islamic nutjob snuffed 49 people at a gay club Sunday morning so, prodictably, everyone's going batsh*t crazy about it and not letting a crisis go to waste, etc.

12 June 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Got up about 10:00 this morning. Went down to the church and helped dad for a while. Got myself [skin east] this morning. Also got a window [lock] and a break[sic] hose [Ling made]. $1.30. After dinner came home and did a little practicing. Louise called this evening. Played for the [Tango] dance tonight. Walked most of the way home. Got to bed about 1:20. Spent $1.30.
Just got back from a decently long walk. Today was really pretty okay. I slept in the bed until 3:30 and then went out to the floor and was awakened at 4:45 by Jack meowing in my ear. That was okay. Went to McD's for breakfast and had a Morning Mac, yuuuuuuuum. I came home and did a bunch of chores, including changing the litter, cleaning the bathroom, etc. I got quite a bit done. Decided not to go to Mass as I knew I was going to be sleepy, which I was, and took like a 20 minute nap around 9. Watched the racing (Michigan) the rest of the morning and then went to UVil for lunch and shopping. Didn't get much. Ate outside though, which was pleasant. At some point while deciding what sort of exercise-related thing I should do this afternoon I decided that I should go home and then ride my bike back to the UVil and have some sort of snack. I ended up doing that and sat outside at the SBux. It was nice. Ride home was uneventful.

I talked to mom on the phone this afternoon as it is her birthday. She sounded really good! My sister had posted that she was saying all kinds of weird stuff, but she seemed mostly fine to me.Said a couple odd things, but I wasn't sure if she really said something weird or I just didn't understand. But we had a nice chat. I think she was happy to hear from me. Jeff said that she told him that I had gotten out of prison.

So, made dinner and then went for my long walk. It was a three cat walk, too. Going to hang with the cats the rest of the night.

11 June 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Slept in until about 10:00 this morning. When I got up I walked to town and went down to the church and mowed the lawn for dad. After dinner at Grandma's and[sic] I came home and practiced a little while and then took at [say] for a [why]. Went up to Holly's for a while and went to a party at [Dals] with them. Came home with Holly's. Got home about 10:45. Am not very tired tonight. Pop $.05. Spent $.05.
I had a busy day. Slept until 3 when Daisy barfing woke me up and I decided to use some minor assistance to get back to sleep which worked and I slept until a little after 5, although was still awake for at least a half an hour. I went to Burgermaster's for breakfast at 7 but they appeared closed. Odd. They open at 6:30. But no cars in the lot and no people visible inside. So I went to McD's instead which was fine. I came home and started some laundry and then cleaned my desk. Also reformatted an old PC and reinstalled Winblows so I can get rid of it. It's big and takes up space and is pretty useless.

Spilled an entire glass of iced tea on my desk, too, grrrrrr.

So, then left around 11:30 and had lunch at NGate, the Panera. Meh. Was going to go to an asian place but too long of a line. It was okay though. Then I went up to the pet food store and got canned chow for Daisy and then gas at the Spam's Club and then I got ice cream and then went to the QFC, etc., and came home. AND THEN I WENT FOR A RUN. I highlight that because it was a good one. I stretched my knees beforehand -- basically just pulling my knees as far up to my chest as I could and bending it in -- and had no pain at all. I even added a chunk of uphill to the usual route. Really went great. And then. . . . .I opened a beer and drank some of it in the shower. Man oh man, I may have mentioned before, that is What Is Best In Life. Two would be better, but whatever. Feel okay, too.

I did some more piddling around and then made dinner. I walked from here all the way to the footbridge over Ravenna Gulch by 20th Ave, which is a bit of a hike. Kind of in our old neighborhood. I like that neighborhood, it's got a lot of nostalgia associated with it. We lived there when I was first making decent money at a real job and also working on my dissertation. I used to walk to the UW every week night to work on it and it was always very peaceful on the way back. That's really how I got into the habit of walking after dinner every night. One year in late spring the comet Hale-Bopp was visible for about a month (April I think) and we had a remarkably clear month then and when I was walking home every night it would be sitting up there to my upper left just looking fabulous. I feel rather honored to have been around for that.

Anyway, I went for that long walk and now I'm going to hang out with the cats and watch TV. Meh. Not exciting.

10 June 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Dad and I took the Dodge to get it fixed today. Worked all day at the church. We did a lot of looking around at motors today. [Victor] and his girlfriend came up to see me tonight. Rode with Lee Roy to the dance tonight and played for U.S.O. Had a [dont Bar] on the way home $.10. Walked down to talk to Louise a little while about 12:00 tonight. Got to bed about 3:00. Spent $.10.
I wonder if that's a felony, talking to Louise when he was ordered not to have any contact with her until she's 18? Bad, bad Clarence.

Had a weird day today. I slept pretty well, but woke up at 4, blehh. I just got up. Had breakfast and then drove the Spousal Unit to the airport. Took 20 minutes to get there. . . .and an hour to get back. Heavy traffic and then a lane was blocked under the Convention Center. We're going to start just doing the train from now on when it's anywhere near rush hour. I went straight to Cascadia and got a bid out and the name was cut off. JAYsus. Oh well. She called later and was okay with everything though so I think it's going ahead. Hope I don't have to go out next week though.

I left there around 9:30, parked at UVil, and then walked over to the IMA (after eating half a donut) and worked out. It was okay. I had on my Captain America shirt and the chick in the pool/first aid office commented (positively) upon it since she had a couple of what they call 'graphic novels' (aka, comic books) on the desk. One was DC but the other was Marvel so we had a short chat about that. Workout went good although I felt. . .weird. Muscles didn't get weak or anything, but I felt kind of blehh. I walked back and then went to McD's for lunch and guzzled soda.

I went home and. . . .let's see. Arranged to go see Fiona at NGate and we had a nice visit. She's doing well. Has a couple men she's seeing regularly. Came home, practiced guitar, made dinner -- a Manly dinner of hunks of meat and a can of green beans -- and then walked to UVil for bonito flakes.

Been e-chatting with my friend Rachel in. . . .Tennessee? Or something. All day. She's fun.

9 June 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Got up early this morning and went to work cleaning up the back yard and getting some things to the junk [yadasy]. Did some [plisking] on sax early this morning. Ate dinner at Grandma's. Slept some this afternoon. Also mowed the lawn. Lee Roy and I went to the show at the Liberty tonight $.75. Walked around a little when I got home for a while before going to bed. Got to bed about 11:30. Spent $.75.
I had a looooong day today. Left at 6 and didn't get back until almost 6. Drive up was uneventful. When I got to the property I parked and walked down the driveway to check things out and when I got back there was a little fox waiting by the vehicle! Cute little thing, but scrawny and old. Pretty tame. I think he/she is a neighborhood critter and was making the rounds and saw someone home. I gave him/her half of my donut and he/she wandered off.

Survey went.  . okay. First hole was easy and I thought, great, maybe I'll need to call Mark and see if he's free for lunch. Ha. Next two were hard and compact all the way down. At least the last one was pretty easy. Didn't get done until almost 1. I drove right back to the ferry and it left around 2:10 or so. Whole mess of kids on board, too. I did a little work and then wandered around. Wait for the customs people wasn't too bad, but I got in the right lane. And I mean the right lane and the right hand lane; remember that.

Drive home was okay, but LOTS of traffic south of 145th. If not for that I would have been home by 5:15.

Spousal Unit leaves tomorrow, but we don't have to leave until 6. That means I'll work out in the afternoon, I think. Well, maybe. I dunno. We'll see.

Tired. Oh, left shoulder really hurt. I think the exercise I'm doing for the right one is hurting the left one.

8 June 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Spent [my] of the day in jail today. Got a [ten datham firsi for acrosing a comshel reaper win many] in court. I am not allowed to see Louise any more until she is 18. Got out of jail about 4:30 this evening. Went down to Union [Gap] and say [Verlene] this evening. Did some polishing on my [ropler] tonight. Got to bed about 10:30. Listened to the radio for a while. Spent [$11.80].
Much of that was indeed difficult to read. I do think he ends up marrying Louise by September.

I didn't have the greatest night last night. Woke up, couldn't get to sleep without assistance and even then it took probably 45 minutes, then I woke up again at 3, etc. I did get back to sleep though so I felt okay. Rode my bike in and had another killer workout. I find I have to train many days just to go out in the field for one day. I worked on Coptic stuff most of the morning. I think all of the initial cytology Dx's are done and actually I think we have most of the 6-months ones set up, too. I think 350 or so out of 400. Also finally got the one program to run. Let me explain a bit why it wasn't working:

SPSS thought that some missing values were equal to 1.

Yes, it's stupid. The code said (essentially) "Keep everything where X and Y both don't equal 1". No case had both equal to one, and it interpreted all these "missing values" as equal to 1, so it was dropping everything. No, I don't know why it does that. Something to do with how the software codes "missing values" (like the absence of a value equals. . . .something). I dunno. Made no sense and I swore a lot. But got it working. Numbers didn't make sense though. Will have to work on it more next week.

Anyway, went to McD's for lunch. Before that, however, I made a snarky comment on a local newslady's Facebook post -- which was actually a serious point about hypocrisy -- and someone responded, and of course with all my anxiety I flipped out. But I calmed down and responded back a couple of times. Civilly of course. I think I won. Well, of course I did, it was a clear case of "Do as we say, not as we do".

So. Went to Target to get my eyeballs taken care of the the nice young lady who I'd been chatting very nicely with last time treated me like I was a freaky old perv or something when I started chatting again. Whatever. Came home, did some more minor work on Cascadia stuff, mainly getting a bid ready for the Evil Place from last year; the place with the burials. This time it's the neighbor on the other side. At least the clients seem to have had a good opinion of us since both neighbors have asked us to do work for them. What else. Was going to walk to UVil for dinner stuff, but the radar said rain was coming, but it only sprinkled but I drove instead.

I'm kind of chatty tonight, aren't I?

Fieldwork tomorrow.

7 June 2016 (Tuesday)

On this day in 1054 (Monday):
Got up early this morning and before I went down to the church and helped dad. Took a [drawn] book to the school that [clound] borrowed. We also took apart the old Plymouth in the back yard and took it to the [joudy camping]. Got in a fight with Louise[sic] parents for [frouting] on her and got myself thrown in jail for causing a [unk unopen]. Louise got in the [detecting hour] tonight also.
Jail again! Her parents just do not like him. Maybe some Romeo and Juliet action?

Odd night. Needed (minor) assistance twice, once in the middle of the night and once at, yes, 3:30. JAYsus, WHY do I always wake up at 3:30???? Hate. It. Ended up doing fine though. Decent workout I guess. Trying to figure out what I can do with my legs that won't wipe out my knee or back. Mostly I'm just easing off on the weight and doing a bunch of reps and sets.
Changed my ferry reservation to Thursday so that's my field day.

I just went to work downtown and did that all day, pretty uneventful. Am trying to get some data for Engi -- pulmonary stuff -- and it's turned out to be trickier than I though. Well, and SPSS was screwing up for a wile, too. Had my usual scone for lunch out back in the sun. Pleasant today, only like 80.

Bus ride was uneventful as well. Happily, Michele checked back in so I am happy again.

So, kind of an uneventful day all around. Which is good sometimes.

Monday, June 6, 2016

6 June 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Got up this morning about 10:00 had some eat[sic] and then Louise and I went driving back to Point Defiance. About 2:30 we went through the museum. We then went back to Ray's and ate and then started back for home about 6:00. Gas $3.05. We drove and got home about 10:45. Eat on the way $.80. We first stopped at my place and then dad took Louise home. Got to bed about 1:00 this morning. Spent $3.85.
I think it's pretty neat that after wasting so much time on that beeyotch Barbara he finally found someone like Louise.

See, I'm not a heartless cad.

Managed to sleep pretty well last night despite the heat. I didn't cover up the whole night once I got to the TV room though; didn't really cool down that much (63 in the morning). Did wake up at 4 though. I rode my bike to the gym and had a massively awesome workout. Just killed it. Ride back home was uneventful. I left for Cascadia as soon as I could, but I had all sorts of junk to do first. Had to do some watering. (Need to do that this evening as well)

I worked on a couple of things there, arranged fieldwork for Thursday (unless I can't switch the ferry from Wednesday). What else. Not much there. A chick from a temporary place called me up and told me about a position they have. Nice young lady, but I don't think I'll go for it. Its at CHP and it's mostly blah analytics, no real research or anything. I can almost hear my dad shouting at me "It's a job, boy!" Yeah, yeah.

I left around 11:45 and went to NGate for lunch and then came home, did a little bit of work, and then walked to UVil for dinner matériel and a bit at the SBux (w.o.w.). Walk home was similarly uneventful save for the chick in a small black bikini on her front deck with her legs spread wide. I mean, not in an obscene way, more of a tan-the-inner-legs way, but it was funny.

Took out all the garbage and junk, made dinner, and then we went to UVil to get bagels. 86 today.

Sunday, June 5, 2016

5 June 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Slept in at Ray's this morning until about 11:00. Ray and Louise and I all went fishing out at Point Defiance for the most part of the day. Didn't have any luck. Sure was cold out on the water out on the water $1.00 boat rent. Louise and I slept a little while afterwards and then went out to the County [Ballroom] tonight for a dance $2.50. Drink $1.25. We danced until 2:00 this morning. Gas $1.00. Sure had loads of fun tonight. Spent $5.25.
May have had a day mixed up. Need to check yesterday's entry.

I had a decent enough day. I slept really quite well, albeit with minor assistance in the middle of the night. It was very warm today, so the AC will be turned on as soon as I am done with this. I slept until 5 and then the Spousal Unit made waffles and I went to Mass. It's Fr. Oliver's 45 anniversary as a priest which didn't impact the service any except for a slightly longer homily (he usually nails it bang on at 10 minutes). Not that many people in church.

Came home and didn't watch the race because it was rained out. Supposed to run it tomorrow. We went to UVil for lunch and stuff. Still the sidewalk sale so it was kind of crowded. Didn't buy anything for that. We had lunch at a new place whose name I can't remember but it's an organic frou-frou salad joint. Meaning, pricey. I think a basic cobb salad is $10. We ate outside. What else. DId the grocery shopping and then went back over and had a yogurt because the Spousal Unit's stomach wasn't feeling great from the lunch. We got back around 2? I guess we went to City Peoples' as well and got a plastic mat for by the cats' "guard tower" in the front window. We have a nice old Tibetan (I think) rug there, but it's getting kinda beat up from them clawing it and throwing up on it. I just covered it with the mat, but will find a new home for it eventually. I washed the Honda and sat out on the front steps and ate some watermelon for a while. Made dinner, all vegetable-type stuff. Walked.

CA Initiative still working, although didn't think too much about it today.

4 June 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Went through the fish [squeoums] today $.50 at the park. Louise and I called up Lola this morning about 8:00 and then we went out to their house and had breakfast. Slept a while and then went out driving around the town taking in the sights. [Of Tacoma??? ed.] Gas $1.00. Went out to Point Defiance for a while. Watched Television at Ray's for a while also. Got in and to bed at Ray's about 10:45. Am a little tired. Spent $1.50.
The Narrows bridge would have built by then (1950); the one that didn't collapse. Matter of fact we could both have been driving across the same bridge! Not the same surface though.

Today was pretty okay. I slept really quite well, only waking up once to go to the TV room and then not really again until 4:30. Oddly, I felt really sleepy most of the morning anyway. I did take a short nap. Didn't do much this morning. We went out for breakfast cuz we didn't have enough bread and I didn't want anything sweet (pancakes, waffles) because I'd been eating donut holes. Futzed around until a little after 11, was watching a NASCAR race for a while. We went to the UDist for the Spousal Unit's hair appt, and I went to the sporting goods store and bought some swim goggles for when I'm in Wisconsin. Had lunch at Pagliacci's. Bought a pen and pencil at the Bookstore to get the parking validated. Thence to the UVil. It's sidewalk sale weekend. Back in Fond du Lac we used to love the downtown's sidewalk sale. I don't remember much about it but I thought it was really neat. The UVil one used to be kind of fun but now it's just junk. Well, mostly. They have some stuff that's decent. Most stores we never shop at anyway.

So we did that and got some spare ribs for dinner and a few other items. Came home by 2:45 and I put the ribs on the grill. Kind of piddled around then, too, apart from eating watermelon. I did practice guitar a little bit, mostly finger strengthening stuff.

Right now I am listening to Vivaldi's Lute and Mandolin Concertos. This was one of the first pieces of classical music that I really fell in love with while in college so it's very nostalgic. Adore Vivaldi.

After dinner we went up to NGate to walk, mainly because the Spousal Unit wanted to look for some things. And it was cooler (85 today). I ended up getting some swim trunks for, again, when I'm in Wisconsin. I have some loud board shorts but they're not great for swimming laps. Need to slim down some between now and then. Not sure how. I need to cut back on the calories and increase my output somehow, but not sure how to do the latter since I'm really active anyway. May need to boost protein and cut back on carbs some.

3 June 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Dad took me to school this morning as usual. Did a lot of chasing around looking for some of my [last bands]. Took my report card around today. Skipped my study hall period 5th per. Passed in all of my [sabish]. Went to graduation exercise tonight. Afterwaed Louise and I took off for Tacoma. We drove all night. Got some eats on the way $.90. Got into Tacoma about 5:00 in the morning. Oil in Trans $.30. Spent $1.20.
I bet dear old dad won't be pleased that his daughter went off to Tacoma with that young layabout.

What a . . . . weird day. I slept pretty well, albeit with minor assistance (semi-intense anxiety attack (or whatever)). But I did okay. I had planned on riding my bike to the gym but remembered that I'd forgotten to get bagels yesterday so I drove instead. Had a wicked good workout and really wiped myself out by the end. My "CA" strategy is doing well.

No, I will not say what that stands for.

So, stopped at the QFC and got two bagels and then came home. I decided to go to the cemetery to start recording, and did so. But when I got there the photo I took to remind me where I'd left off (which was probably to years ago) didn't match with the last bit of data from the database. I can't really just go recording anywhere again since I am dealing with absolute numbers of burials and if I count twice it will screw it up. So I came home and wrestled with the database instead. I finally figured out a work around for getting the data out of FileMaker (grrrr), and I think I got everything straightened out. I even made up a new data entry form (in Access) since I'll be hand entering data. Kind of fun actually, I hadn't made a form and coded it in a while. So I got that working and then went to lunch at McD's.

Met some (rather exceptionally attractive) lady from Assumption there and finally said hello. Robin. Nice lady. Well, and, you know, hot. I just had fries. Came home and then decided to go back to Calvary and do a little more work trying to get the data straightened out, but got halfway down the hill when they turned the sprinklers on in that area. Grrrrr. So, carried onwards to UVil. Sat in SBux and enjoyed the eye candy. Well, for posterity's sake, I don't just sit in there and ogle the wimmins, I have my phone and read stuff for the most part, but I am not above glancing around. So there, nyah.

Walked home and was shaking by the time I arrived. I dunno, like a sugar meltdown. So I scarfed down some nuts and, of course, BIT MY OWN FRICKIN' MOUTH. AGAIN. I don't know what's happened to me but I can barely go a day without biting myself. WTF?

OOOOOOo, big news is that. . . .they're (probably) shutting down Car Lust! Hafner messaged us this morning. I guess the people in charge of it don't really like it being outside of Amazon's control. Good run. Our lawyer person says he thought the contract we signed gives us ownership of the content so we should be able to hang onto it. I think we'll end up trying to migrate it somewhere else.

Anyway, I just made a couple brats and potatoes and vegetables on the grill. Walked. Sunny and 80 today. Up near 90 both weekend days, so they say.

2 June 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Dad took me to school this morning. Louise had the Plymouth. Got my book fines paid $2.60. Got out of school today at 2:00. Went down town with Louise. Ate dinner at grandma's this evening. Worked the Dodge when I got home and got my Plymouth ready to go over to Tacoma tomorrow night. Got to bed about 11:45 tonight. Got most of my things packed. Spent $2.60.
Interesting day. Spousal Unit got home around 8. I slept quite well, getting out of the bed around 11:30 and went right back to sleep in the other room. I woke up probably three more times before the last time at 4:30, which was good (for me). I was dreaming about blowing up the UW for some reason. Well, I just blew up a bunch of underground tunnel type things, for what reason I don't know. I was irritated at them (probably residual from last Saturday) but I was also in kind of an action/adventure movie so. . . .

Had a really good workout, too. ACTUALLY, it was very interesting. I was doing lunges, second set, and my back started to spasm. BUT. . . .I decided to just work through it and I did! I slowed down and changed my form somewhat and I did okay. Even did another set after that. Squats went okay, too, although I did less weight than usual. So, good.

I worked on Coptic stuff for a couple of hours this morning. Also did some other piddly stuff. I went up to Taco Slime on Lake City for lunch, big mistake. Well, little mistake. The counter person was new and not altogether ecstatic about customer service. So, meh. When I came home I had an email from Rich P. director of Catholic Cemeteries around here letting me know I'd need to sign a waiver to do more data collection at Calvary. So I walked that up and dropped it off on my way to the UVil. I tried the GPS on my phone again and I think if I let it sit for a few minutes it gets a little more accurate. It did pretty well with the front of the house, but seemed a few meters off when I tried it on a street; but I couldn't tell from the satellite image where exactly I'd been standing, soooo. . . .

It's the Sidewalk Sale weekend at UVil meaning they try to sell all the junk they couldn't get rid of the rest of the year. Used to like it, but not lately. I still like going there though, because it's kind of fun. Plus, errrmmm, well, the scenery will be truly spectacular all weekend because it's going to be warm and sunny. I just sat outside with my hot chocolate for a while and then walked home, practiced guitar, etc. Walked up to the post office and the bank at 85th for the walk.

1 June 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Dad took me to school this morning. Louise and I walked home during school time and got the Plymouth and turned in my uniform. Had our final English test and our final History test this morning. Got my [Louie] today. Louise ate supper at grandma's with me this evening. Stayed home and [published wshe] tonight. Got to bed about 11:00.
Wow, before midnight. . . .

Spousal Unit didn't get home until almost 9:30 last night and I stayed up to wait. So, got to be about 45 minutes later than usual but I slept until 5 so it wasn't too bad. Apparently she waited around until they decided to admit her to the hospital so she stayed until it was clear she wouldn't go home yesterday.

Had a dandy workout again today. I rode my bike in. I worked most of the morning getting the Coptic data set up AGAIN. Still more errors and I still need to run another longish program tomorrow! I think I still have an hour or so this week. Called the chimney people again. Went to lunch at McD's. Right after lunch I checked out an app that saved GPS readings to more digits, but when I put them in Google Earth they were still off by as much as 10 meters. They were quick readings though; I wonder if I stood in one place and let it settle down if it might get more accurate. May try that tomorrow.

Decided to walk down to UVil to cash a small check and sit at SBux for a bit (not long) and then walked home again. I went up on the roof when I got back and cleaned everything off. Two bags worth! Practiced guitar for a bit after that.

Then I got dinner ready and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally a little before 6 I decided I might as well eat anyway, so I did, and then texted the Spousal Unit to find out where she was. Oh, she was having dinner with her group. THANKS FOR REMINDING ME. I walked anyway. Well, not 'anyway'. That's two good walks today.
