30 April 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Got up about the usual time this morning. Skipped school this morning and worked down at the church most of the morning. Dad Louise and I went to dinner at the Donut Shop today. Dad and I left with the band on the bus about 12:30 today. Got to Wenatchee about 5:00. Did some marching practice up there [this] about. Louise and I [chord] around town until after [teeder] tonight. Gas $1.50. [Dorothy speeding $70.45] Spent $.50.
Okay, so I woke up at like 3 this morning and by the time I decided I wasn't going to go right back to sleep it was 3:20. I decided I was NOT going to ruin my Saturday by being all tired as hell so I took 1/4 ambien and laid down on the floor. . . .and went almost right back to sleep! Until about 5:10 which was perfect. So, I felt great all day. Not a single nap. Good call on my part. Go me.

Made it through two sodas before the Spousal Unit got up and we went to Burgermaster for breakfast. What's the deal with the cook there, they don't know what an over-medium egg is. Almost always makes it too runny. What do they do if someone asks for over-easy, just break the eggs onto the plate?

But the bacon was good.

I worked out in the front yard when we got back. I edged the terrace, but did a lousy job of it. ALl crooked and stuff. But the sidewalk is so sunk that the grass is like 2.5" above it so it's constantly growing out into the sidewalk. Then I. . . .hmm. Oh, watched the last 20 minutes of The Fly (the old one). Weird movie. I think I may have seen the whole thing once. The remake was good though.

Lessee, went out about 10:45 and went up to the Walmart in Lynnwood to get me more cinnamon candies but THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY. But we got more junk instead. I'm trying to avoid Target because of their sexual-predator-friendly bathroom policy anymore. I won't brag about it, but I will silently demonstrate my displeasure. I took a "scenic route" to get back to 196th in Lynnwood and we went to the Chick Fil-A there (taking another moral stand) but ate in the car because it was so crowded. Went into the nearby Lowe's but didn't really do much.

Then it was a couple of estate sales. The first was a hoarder. The house was crowded enough, but they had already taken a LOT of stuff outside! Not much decent stuff there though. The next one was in a neat 1950s house -- kinda reminded me of ours -- and it was mostly empty, but I got a CD. Tempted to get the Denon amp and tuner, but I don't need them. Probably not as nice as mine anyway.

Stopped and got ice cream up by NGate. Came home. I did some drills on my guitar after mowing the front yards. The drills were a new thing: chord switching for one full minute. D-E-D-E-D-E, etc. and then D-A-D-A-D etc. Fingers got worn out really quickly although I did it for probably 20 minutes. I really am making progress but sometimes it feels so slow. I had done something like that before a few times, but I'm not sure it really helped. After a while I was getting kind of automatic at it. So that's good.

Walked down to the Metropolitan Market and got buttermilk for tomorrow. Talked to Norma a bit on the way.

29 April 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Had a marching practice at [Parkay] Field again this morning. Things about the same around school except I stayed after school and made up a test. We had another marching practice at [Daisy] Field at 7:00 this evening also. Also played for the U.S.O. Louise drove the Plymouth tonight. [Stay why] for the trip tomorrow. Getting to bed about 2:00.
So I got out of the bed last night and went to the TV room and Daisy was stretched out on the couch on her back and I just couldn't move her so I slept on the floor. Which wasn't bad. Except I woke up at like 3:30. Blehh. Felt okay most of the day though. Really good workout. Just busted it the whole time. Said something to a totally sneaky hot young asian girl who I see almost every day and she just kind of laughed a bit. Fiona said that was okay and what I said was a nice thing to say. So whatever. As you may have guessed, I got together with Fiona again today. Nice to see her. She gave me a b-day gift of cookies, homemade soap, and a homemade 'solid lotion'. Basically chapstick for the body. Which may be a great thing since I get these really dry itchy spots down near my ankles and I think this will be great for that. Also any other really dry and itchy spots.

I worked most of the morning on a couple of reports. I finished the Renton report (short) and then got into the Penn Cove one, where we found midden. I just did the mapping for that one and got some photos listed out. Ate ramen in today. Wasn't going to get a mocha but we hadn't enough milk so I had to go get one. Worked on that stuff until time to to to SBux and then stopped off at the church with some stuff and lit a vigil light for Sara the Nurse's mom who is dying of cancer. Very sad.

That was about it. I played my guitar and used the pick mostly. For whatever reason my chords seem worse when I use the pick. I just don't know why. I may get lessons for my birthday present to myself.

28 April 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Dad took me to school at about 7:00 o'clock this morning. We picked up Louise and went down to [Amber] field for a marching practice. Went down town after school and picked up some pictures $.60. Did some study[sic] before supper and after supper with[sic] to marching practice. Didn't last too long. [Wsin] and Mike were [down] for a while tonight. Went down to Louise's a little while tonight. Got to bed by 1:00. Spent $.60.
Tired again tonight. I slept really well last night but was sleepy a lot today. Had a really decent workout this morning and then I went over to the QFC and got a fresh bagel there to eat. I was going to go straight to Camano but decided I needed to, errrrmmmm, use a facility so I swung by home first. Was not going to get a mocha this morning but was sleepy so I got one outside of Stanwood. Survey went pretty quickly. The geologist was there, a tiny little bundle-of-energy asian woman. She came right up to see me and took me down to the beach to look at the exposures. Which were pretty useless for me but I nodded pleasantly anyhow. Well, I did go check out the stream and looked around for any midden popping out in the bluff top (negative). Only did two holes because there weren't any good open spaces that weren't all pushed-up fill. Was done by 11. So I went down to Camano State Park to see Jana who was monitoring down there. And I had lunch at the beach. Very pleasant weather today.

Drove back and got to the shop around 1:30. Decided I needed an ice cream so I went to NGate. It's like $4.50 for one! Everything's getting really expensive. Probably the idiotic $15 minimum wage. I swear, these nitwits in government either flunked Econ 101 or they're just as corrupt as I feared. Probably both.

Anyway, came home and finished up my little dissertation for my faaaaabulous cousin. I hope she finds it useful.

Listening to Ted Nugent's 1978 live album, Stranglehold. Yeah. . . .

27 April 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Started marching practice this morning again at 7:00. Dad took me to school. About 9:30 started to practice on the program for tonight. Went down town after school. After supper walk down to Louise[sic] place and then had to play for the [Mayaflt] concert. After the concert went home with Louise for a while. Did my English tonight. Got to bed about 12:15. [Gift] to Louise $10.00. Spent $10.00
Phone went dead again today. That is, it couldn't access the wireless network Twice within a month or so. Probably will need a new phone soon. It was the SIM card. I think I'll get an iPhone next. I think they're way overpriced but it's too much of a pain trying to get files to and from this Android phone. They put a new card in but I fear it will go out again soon, too.

Slept decently last night, albeit with assistance. Actually, I think I just had the one wakeup and that was it. Felt really wound up though, physically, like I couldn't get comfortable. Decent enough workout. Stuart was kvetching because he's in a "death spiral" of getting fat and lazy and not working out. And here all my parts are in good working order *knock wood*.

I finished up the proposal for the Low Income Housing people in Renton and sent that off but mostly worked on the Coptic stuff all morning. I decided to make a single database table with all of the diagnostic results in it so I can look at everything for a person in a single screen. That should be helpful for everything eventually.

Went to McD's for lunch and then went right to Cascadia. Didn't do much there except look at an old report and a couple of other things and get a breaker bar in case tomorrow's sediments are compacted. There is a site nearby but surveys on neighboring properties didn't find anything.

What else. . . .had a decent guitar session this afternoon. So much so that my pinky hurts. Going to start letting loose some and experimenting with different things. I really need to take some lessons.

I should start putting in some cryptic code phrases just to throw off future readers. . . .

26 April 2016 (Tuesday)

On this day in 1954 (Monday):
Dad took me to school this at[sic] 7:00. Had our usual marching practice at [Dennis] Field. Marched until 9:00. Then we came in and practiced all day until 4:00 with [Rafael Mengay] for the concert tomorrow night. Had an hour and a half off of dinner. Louise and I went down to the library tonight and I went down to her place for a while tonight. Got home about 12:00. Coke $.05. Pop $.10. Spent $.15.
Odd day today. Slept weirdly last night, but mostly the whole night. Decent enough workout albeit a bit shortened since I was a bit late (Spousal Unit had to stop and get bagels). Went to the Rotunda and ate my bagel, then downtown. Rowena and I went over for coffee. Most of the day I worked on the 90 non-randomized LEEP patients. I started looking more closely into a couple and found I had some diagnoses wrong. Well, their records are more complicated than I had figured. For instance, some would be "Enrolled" at one date (say, in 2011), but then re-enrolled later on (say, 2013) so the Initial diagnoses we are really after are the ones from the second enrollment. So I spent the rest of the day looking up all of each person's records to get their sequence of visits, diagnoses, and treatments correct. I wasn't going to do this will all 400 of the study participants, but 90 is doable. Will continue that this week.

Also spoke with the geology chick who called yesterday about the job Thursday and called in the utility locates. Had lunch at my desk. Jillian came in for a few, it was nice to see her. Also Anjulie was in as well and I chatted with her a bit, and also Alison who got a new full office! So, a productive and pleasant day there.

Came home and botched dinner. Well, not too badly. I almost burned the rice and then kept spilling the butter chicken junk. Turned out okay though. Walked. Arranged flamingoes again.

25 April 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Louise came down and woke me up this morning. We took the Plymouth and drove up on White Pass today. Took some lunch with us. Got back about 6:00 and ate supper at Louise's place. After supper Louise and {Rogne] and I [dig] up to Lookout Point. Necked with both of them tonight. Got back here about 12:00. Gas $1.00. [capitol F in circle] Eats $.30 at the XXX. Spent $1.30.
Oooo, that little stud had a sort of a threesome!

I only woke up once last night! Dunno what time. Then awake at 4 although I think I kept dozing off until 4:40. So, I felt okay. Went to the gym and had a quick intense workout until 7 and then I drove up to the Mukilteo ferry. Ate my bagel while waiting for the boat and then got up to the site around 9:30. It was raining hard all the way to the ferry but then on the way across it cleared up (went to Whidbey).

I dug three holes down on the beach (= useless) and then they had a backhoe that did three trenches on top of the seawall, plus there was an open hole there as well. Probably some midden in there, a thin layer (about 15-20 cm). Showed up in two of the trenches and the one open hole. We're going to look at the place a couple houses down to see what it was like there, because the excavator said they'd found the same stuff over there and they just monitored it. So we'll see, but they will probably need an excavation permit. Meaning I get to do it. I stopped at a DQ on the way back and had a halfway decent chili cheese hot dog for lunch and then went to the ferry. Got back to the shop around 1:45. Checked in and then came home. Was pleasant and sunny out there while I was there, although a little windy at times. Went to UVil because I had to get bagels.

We got our wedding invitation to Engi's wedding. . . .in Fiji! It's in June, too. She knows not many people can go but she's giving us all invitations anyway. It's a long time coming and they had actually been engaged before and called it off -- her mother in law problems -- but then they decided to go through with it. I'm happy for her. I kind of wonder if it will last though. But whatever, she's fab and I hope she is happy.

24 April 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Marched in a parade this morning. [Sole] tickets to the [Menglax] concert until noon today. Louise and her girl friend Shirley came down to grandma's with me for dinner today. Didn't do much this afternoon. After supper tonight I worked on the car some. Went down to Louise's place and[sic] for a while tonight after her father left. Got home about 1:00. Gas $4.00. Spent $4.00.
The big news for today is that I wore my glasses (instead of contacts) all day. Not that that's Big News, but I rarely ever do it. Just felt very tired and sleepy all morning. I ended up taking two naps. Don't know why, I slept pretty well last night. Mostly this morning I just piddled around, napped, watched the NASCAR race, then went to UVil. Normal stuff. Actually came home early, by 1:30. Didn't do much this afternoon either. It was kind of rainy earlier and decided to just clean around the house rather than go for a walk -- I'l be spending enough time outside tomorrow. Cool today, only up to 53.

Didn't play guitar either. I should, at least for a little while.

23 April 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Started marching again this morning at 7:30. Had test in Biology first thing. [I figited] this afternoon. After supper tonight I just sat around and listened to radio. Louise had to baby sit tonight. Polished my shoes for the parade in the morning. Sure am not feeling to[sic] good this evening. Had a cold evening. Getting to bed about 11:00 tonight. [Cola] $.05 Spent $.05.
I wonder what the parade is for? Wasn't Easter. Hmmm.

Anyway. Managed to sleep pretty well last night. Went out for breakfast. Meh. Well, it was okay.

Came home and swept up the floors TO REMOVE ANY AND ALL SPRUCE NEEDLES obviously. I actually played my guitar this morning and was having quite a nice time doing so. I think I'm to the point where I can actually play something worthwhile; kind of an inflection point where I can see myself improving. Or something. Hard to explain. I feel like I've passed some significant point. Mostly my fingers getting stronger. That was very much needed.

Finally settled down to watch a bit of TV and took a short nap, and then we left for lunch (BBQ place) and an estate sale (nuthin'), and then stopped by Cascadia to pick up a screen and the papers for the survey Monday. Shouldn't be a big deal; it's just a wall on the beach which we'd done already for someone else and there was nothing in the beach area. Wish I could remember what the report I wrote for that was. . . .

Anyway. Went there and then got some ice cream and stopped by the QFC for dinner stuff and then came home. I fiddled with the guitar a bit but not much (fingers were kinda sore). Mostly piddled around. Jack was demanding attention so I gave him a good 10 minutes of scratching and the brush.

Walked at UVil cuz it looked like it was going to rain. Didn't. Much.

I watched the last half of Ice Station Zebra this afternoon. Cool movie. 1968. I remember back in the Cold War days how awful things seemed. And then in 1990 it was just. . . .over. I had grown up with it and figured it would last my entire life. And then it was just. . . .over. I don't think that whole thing gets enough attention anymore. Probably because it was mostly Republicans that ended it so the entertainment media can't bring itself to celebrate it.

22 April 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Louise and I went to the marching practiced[sic] today at 7:30 this morning. Didn't go to English class today. Had a test in History today. Got sick at school today and came home at noon with Ron. Dad and I went to the [cafe star on] $.70. Got Louise some [dophijes] licorice [made] $1.00. Louise and I played the dance tonight at U.S.O. We stayed out until about 2:30 this morning. [capitol F in a circle] Got to bed again about 3:00. $.05 coke Spent $1.75.
Definitely code for something illicit.

I think I slept okay last night. Was awake at some point for a while. Excellent workout this morning, too. Some young asian chick keeps checking me out. What else. I worked at home most of the morning doing Coptic stuff. I found 15 more cytology Dx's for the non-randomized people which was pretty good. Need more though. Also wrote up some more on my thing for Michele. It's very cathartic writing about all I did for the past few years to get over all the anxiety/mid-life crisis/whatever. I can't remember the timing of various things though. It does make me recall how far along I've come.

News from home: They approved mom for 30 more days of therapy! Which is good. Here is our Facebook exchange, however:
Anthony J. Cagle: Go mom! Go mom!
Carol Cagle (actually Barb, my sister): She has already stated that she's "not going to try harder" and she "likes to be in charge"
Anthony J. Cagle: Someone is in need of some attitudinal adjustment.
But its still good news. Hopefully she can get rid of the feeding tube soon and the, well, diapers.

What else. Went to McD's for lunch (only french fries), set up the gas to start things in motion, and then made iced tea. Went to UVil to cash a check and then hung out at SBux for a bit. LOTS of scenery today. What else. Eh, came home, piddled around, made dinner, walked at NGate, and I bought some new underwear. I've gotten particular about that. The fly-door has to be the right kind and stuff. They're Tommy Johns, which are a bit pricey and don't last very well, but they feel pretty good.

21 April 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Louise came down this morning and we went to band practice at 7:30 this morning. Had a history test this morning. Louise drove the Plymouth home for me after school this evening. Worked on the car some after supper tonight. Did a lot of English tonight. Walked down by Louise's place about 1:30 this morning but she did not wake up as she expected. Got to bed about 3:00 this morning. Coke $.05. Spent $.05.
Kind of an odd day today. I managed to sleep really pretty well (better than waking up at 3:30 anyway) with some minor assistance. Another slow-start workout, but went very well. I added 20 lbs to the squats and everything went fine. Only up to 155 but that's more than I've done in probably 15 years. Came home, ate bagel, etc. went to Cascadia. I finished the Parks report -- turned out I'd made most of the changes TT had suggested anyway -- and then had a look at a RF. . .A? request for bids or whatever. Some thing down by Bremerton that required monitoring 24/day for 5 days, twice. Couldn't do it. All of a sudden I'm very busy there! The Renton thing is happening next week, survey on Camano, site visit on Whidbey, Meier septic thing. . . .sheesh. Meg might have been annoyed with me because she asked me to wait around and do some maps, but I waited and Mike never gave me the things to do. She might have been annoyed at Mike though. They're all stressed. I left around 1:45 and came home and worked on a couple of things. Also played guitar. Meh.

Skyped with mom (Barb is there) and she looked pretty good. Was finishing off a shake. They're talking about easing off the feeding tube considerably. I think the therapy will probably be stopped soon (it mostly is already), but I have some confidence she will keep progressing, albeit not as steadily or quickly as before. But she looked pretty good to me.

We walked up to the chickens this evening.

Was feeling pretty . . . well, fairly low later this afternoon. Nothing really.

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

20 April 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Started practicing some marching [moves] at 7:00 as usual this morning. Got in a fight in history class today and got sent to the office. After school Louise and I went down to the church and got my Plymouth and drove around town. Did a little English at the library with the help of Louise. [We you] at [Lan's] place a little while tonight. She drove me home in the Dodge. Gas $.50. Coke $.05. Spent $.55.
Am beat as I type this. But happy. Michele called me last night and we chatted a while which made me very happy. She was in California for a few days seeing her daughter and was in a bad mood when she got home due to leaving her there and coming back to 46 degrees and cloudy and said my card made her feel really good.

I mostly slept well last night, once I got to sleep and until 3:30 WHEN I WOKE UP FOR NO GOOD REASON. Mind just started racing. I just got up and said &#%$ it. Had a decent workout. Well, no, a really good one. Rode my bike in which went really well. Didn't even burn out my legs on the way back (up the hill). Probably the last time for a while, but I liked it.

I spent the morning at home working on Coptic stuff. Was going to go to Cascadia but didn't know TT had attached her edits of the report Monday and then I couldn't download it, so I just worked here. I worked until about 11 and then drove the hose back up to Fred Meyer. Guy said 50% of those hoses get returned for leaks. I went to McD's for lunch and Norma and Marge were there so we chatted for a good long while. Like an hour. Heh. Let's see, went to UVil and mailed a bill, sat in SBux for a bit to no spectacular scenery (I mean, it wasn't bad, but I expected more and better given the weather) and then went up to Ace for downspout pipe.

That's when the trouble began. Got the pipe okay but then found the damage was worse than I had thought, but figured out a way to get it up there properly. . .but then I cut the pipe from the wrong end. Grrrrr. Back to Ace to get new pipe. Struggled with that for a while, when the Spousal Unit came home and assisted which was needed. Finally got it done around 4:30 so it was a 2 hour job. Was d-a-i-d daid afterward.

We went to UVil for our walk because I was beat and we needed milk anyway and I got a new watermelon, too, and scarfed some of it down when I got back. Probably will be thirsty all evening.

But a decent day, I guess.

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

19 April 2016 (Tuesday)

On this day in 1954 (Monday):
Dad took me to school early this morning. Started marching at 7:00 this morning. Had a test in history this morning. Not as hard as usual. Ate supper at home tonight. Louise and I went to band practice this evening at 7:15 until 9:30. Drove around town a little. When I got ate[sic] a bit and got to bed. She took the Dodge home with her tonight. Gas $1.00. Pop $.25. Spent $1.25.
I may start playing my trumpet again anyway. I had fun doing it. I thought of that because, A) I'm listening to Herb Alpert while typing this, and B) The marching practice reminded me of when I was in band. We would practice marching all around town. We'd start at the high school and then just start marching all over the place. We could do that because it was a small town with little traffic during mid-day. The band director would walk ahead of us and look out for cars and we would just march and play, march and play.

Anyway. Bad night sleeping last night. Couldn't get to sleep (or dozed lightly), then had a tough time getting back to sleep, and then I woke up at 2:45 and had a tough time getting back to sleep again. Sheesh. Felt pretty good today though. Workout (legs) started off kinda iffy but I got stronger as I went and ended up working really hard. Squats are going well, haven't had any problems with my back (*knock wood*). I went straight downtown after hitting the Rotunda, which irritated me since they quit selling large sodas. Probably because those nitwits decided they didn't like people drinking big sodas. I'm going to say this because I feel it needs to be said:

So I went downtown, and started working almost immediately. I spent the whole day getting the 6- and 12-month diagnoses for the non-randomized LEEP patients. They were unsuitable for cryo treatment and so were just treated and then followed. Only 90 people so it's manageable. So far quite a number have serious diagnoses (cytology, aka pap smears) after 6- and 12-months. As if the treatment did nothing. So, interesting. Also walked down and had lunch with Janet who I adore. We sat outside and I enjoyed the scenery. Only had some salad type stuff because I didn't want a heavy meal to walk back up the hill. Had some trouble finding music I wanted to listen to while doing the somewhat tedious work. Ended up with Duran Duran.

Bus ride home was uneventful.

Monday, April 18, 2016

18 April 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Got up at 4:00 this morning and went up and got Louise and her sister and went to Easter breakfast at the church this morning. Stayed for the early service. Didn't do much today. Louise and I just stayed around the house. After dinner down at Louise's plae we drove the Plymouth around some this afternoon. Stayed here tonight. Did a little school work. Got to bed early. Sure am tired. [Capitol F in circle] Offering $.10. Spent $.10.
Kind of a nice day today. Warm, up to 89 officially. Were expecting maybe 82. I slept pretty well last night, until about 4:45. Had a really great workout. Muscles didn't get tired much at all and this was a heavy week. Came home, ate bagel, etc. Went to Cascadia and finished draft of the Fort Ebey report. That took until about 11. I left there and went to Lowe's to get new drainpipe but they didn't have it, so I went to Home Despot and they did, but it was too long to fit in the car so I immediately returned it but kept the elbow joints. *whew* Ate lunch at NGate because it was after 12 by then.

Came home, did a couple things, and then went to UVil to return the litter box and cash a check. And sit at SBux, for which there was precious little scenery. One female walked in wearing like this down jacket. Huh? Well, whatever. Came home and practiced geetar a little. The drills I've been doing have really helped my finger strength. The chords are coming easier but still need work getting them quickly and accurately. Was fiddling with Nirvana's "Polly" today. Walked.

Sunday, April 17, 2016

17 April 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Got up this morning just in time for dinner. Ate at Grandma's. Worked down at the church this afternoon. Louise had a [work] with her old man's [hadoor] this afternoon. Got my Plymouth out of the shop with my 53 [pots] in it this afternoon also. Louise and I drove around town for a while tonight and parked until about 1:30. Went down to her place and had a bite to eat [Capital F in circle] Gas $1.00. Oil $.100. Eats $.50 [Trbed] $3.00. Spent $2.50.
Definitely think this whole letter-in-a-circle is something nasty. . . .

I managed to sleep until after 4:30 this morning! Go me. Beautiful day today, sunny and 80. Decided not to go to Mass because I was still really sleepy this morning and took a nice nap around 9:00. I got out all of the summer clothes and put away many of the winter ones, even though it is turning colder again after Tuesday. I need to get a dresser of some sort; these bins are a pain to get into and out of.

So, I did that this morning and a few other chores, and then napped and then watched some NASCAR stuff and the start of the race (Bristol, TN). Once that started I went to the front steps and read in the sun for a while. New Dune book. We left around 11:40 for UVil. Got lunch at the Chipotle and then ate outside. The place is really getting too upscale for us. If it weren't for the QFC and Bartell's we'd probably never go there. Seattle is becoming San Francisco north: Very wealthy, crumbling infrastructure except for big expensive things that government types like (i.e., rail) and steadily hollowing out the middle class. If you're very poor or very well off, you'll do fine here. We can't wait to leave.

Anyway. Did all that and then came home. I went and got new gas for the bbq and then reprogrammed the SuBAru for the Spousal Unit's phone. Moved the flamingoes. My beer was still good, too. I drank half of it yesterday and recapped it and it was still good and foamy today. I was thirsty so I kinda drank it quickly and then even had some Natural Light. Mine was like 4.8% and the NL is like 4.2%, so I need to get down at least that far without losing too much flavor.

So, dinner and then a walk.

16 April 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Louise came down to the house about 2:45 [Really? ed.] this morning and stayed until 4:45. After she left I had a little [hissing pod] then went back to bed until time to get up for school. Louise went to supper with me tonight. We also went to the drive-in together and drove around [passive] and parked in the [bomb] yard until 12:30. I drove her home and the car broke. Am so tired I cannot hardly see the page. [capital F in a circle] Getting to bed about 1:00. Show $1.30. Spent $1.30.
I still that those circles with a letter in it means something nasty.

I woke up at 4. Blehh. Spousal Unit didn't get up until after 7 so we ate in. Didn't do much all morning, except take a half hour nap and then do a few things outside. I staked up the little tree so it grows straight up instead of arcing out over the sidewalk. I did something else but I can't remember what.

Went to UDist and I sold a few books while the Spousal Unit was getting her hair cut. Went to two estate sales after lunch down there and I only bought an LP (Kansas' first album) at the one. It's "National Record Store Day" so I guess I did my bit even though it wasn't at a record store. These days vinyl is kind of making a comeback, they're selling lots of it. Don't know why, the sound is worse than digital, but maybe it's the whole nostalgia thing. Well, rock really peaked (I think) during the LP era, so maybe people are trying to relive that a bit, although it's a lot of younger people buying it. I'll get the old LPs for nostalgia's sake, but nothing new.

Anyway, came back home and I swept the driveway and then washed the Honda. Talked with Rob the neighbor and Reyna a bit. She's getting less attractive as she gets older, I think. A couple of years ago I thought she was going to turn into a really gorgeous young woman, but she's gotten . . . well, bigger I guess. Like a jock. Well, I dunno, maybe she was just slumming it this afternoon.

What else. . . . .made dinner, went to NGate for walk and to look for underwear (ixnay).

I had one of my new batch of beer and it was just right. Only a week since I'd carbonated/bottled it and it had plenty of carbonation. Good flavor too, not as hoppy/bitter as I'd been making it. I think if I reduced some of the grains a bit and took out one of the malts it would be just about the right flavor and alcohol content.

Mostly sunny and 67 today. Pleasant.

15 April 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Went to school at 7:30 this morning for band practice. Things were about the same in school today. After school I [went] Louise's sister and we went down town and I got her an outfit for easter $8.14. Ate supper at home this evening. Played for the dance this evening at U.S.O. Louise had the Dodge I walked her home from here tonight about 12:15. [Some hat] $40.00 on my car [mostic] today. Spent $48.14.
I had a very good day today. Well, except that I woke up at 3:45 or so. But I stayed in the bed all night! Had a truly wicked workout, too. Many females present so I had to work hard. Went to the church and dropped off some stuff and chatted with Carol for a few minutes. Got to Cascadia and it was quiet as TT had to go to the field. I got the mapping done and did some more of the report. Mostly finished although the refs will take some work. I left there about 11:45 and ate lunch at NGate. Then home for a little bit and then went to meet Fiona at the UVil SBux. Not sure why she "broke up" with me a couple of years ago, but we're besties again now I guess. Anyway, it was a delightful hour and a half. Came home, fiddled with guitar a while, made dinner. Actually, dinner was kind of exciting because the grill ran out of gas so I had to move it all onto the stove quick. Meh. Iffy dinner mostly. Walked.

14 April 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Went to school early this morning. Started band practice this morning at [7:30]. Did not go to any classes except first period. Came home and slept a little while. [Dabibel] some rocks. Went to band practice this evening at the High School at 7:30. Went to the Donut Shop before going home $.35. Watched Television at Louise's place until it went off tonight. Got to bed about 1:00. Spent $.35.
I guess younger people wold wonder about that whole "until it went off" thing. We're used to having it on 24-7-365. Plus I notice he doesn't really watch it that much anyway.

Weird night. I think I woke up at like 3:30 but then I think I dozed off again until maybe 4:15. I don't know. Had a really good workout, no back problems.

I'm listening to the old album "The Year of the Cat" by Al Stewart. I'd forgotten I had this one for years and lately I've been listening to it a lot. Speaking of which, I decided last night I could play this here guitar. I dunno why, I was just going through an old Chris Isaak song (Spanish Sky) and it was mostly chords I was familiar with (Am, E, D, G, F) and just realized that all I need to really do is (duh) get the chord fingering down and I would be able to play it. I'm not sure why that obvious thought hadn't really occurred to me. Maybe I'd been thinking it was somehow magical or something. I dunno, it just struck me is all. I was happy with it.

Anyway. Came home after gym, worked a bit, and then got the bus to UDist and then went to Harborview. I didn't have all that much to do but I kept busy until 2 when I met with Michael. Good meeting, he's okay with what I'm doing, so there. Bus ride home was uneventful. Walked around here. Kinda not all that warm today, like 59 and the walk felt cooler than it looked. Many cats to pet.

13 April 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Went to school at 7:30 this morning as usual. Everything about the same in school. Louise had to stay after school and help Mrs. Herbert. After dinner at grandma's this evening I came home [a satafs] and then went down to Louise's place and stayed there for a while. Came home about 10:30 and ate a bite and did a little history. Getting to bed at 11:00. Coke $.05. Spent $.05.
Decent day today. Cat was on the couch (Daisy) and I didn't want to move her so I slept on the floor which was fine. Slept pretty well. Workout was really. . . .odd. I worked hard, muscles felt okay, but I didn't feel very energetic. Just. . .odd. Still,  continue to revel in being able to walk normally.

Went to Cascadia and worked until around 2. Had to make a supply run to Spam's Club to get printer ink and mostly worked on the mapping all day. Think I got it though. Need to change it up and make the shovel probes different from the backhoe ones. Other than that, it worked out pretty well.

When I left I went over to the UVil to get some cash from the money machine and then sat in Sbux for a bit. I saw Sara at the Slaveway SBux this morning and it was good to see her again; haven't been over there much lately. Came home, blah blah blah. Walked.

12 April 2016 (Tuesday)

On this day in 1954 (Monday):
Got up early this morning. Was at school at 7:30 this morning for marching practice. Had two assemblys[sic] today. This morning the Puget Sound College [ahor jous a amant]. This afternoon a[sic] apple blossom assembly. My Plymouth is in the garage today. Louise and I drove around in the Van tonight. Did some studying on my history and got to bed about 12:30. Have been about dead tired all day. [Brewer] $.10 Records $1.00. Spent $1.10.
So, today was. . . . .weird. Managed to sleep really well. Good workout, not spectacular. Came home, ate bagel, and then checked the new bus schedules. . .OGM it comes at 8:30 now and it's 8:28 hurry hurry hurry let's try to make it!!!!!

Nope. Walked back home, next one not until 9:09. Work some more, leave to go to bus and. . . .it drove by while I was still half a block away. Thus, I decided to &#^$ it and walked up to the SBux and then work at home since the Gods hath decreed I would not go downtown. Well, SBux gypped me on my mocha and I took a photo of it when I got home: My "16 ounce" grande mocha had less than 10 ounces of liquid in it. Some TV station or other in NYC I think did the same thing and checked a bunch of their drinks and found most of them were way below the listed amount. I sent it to the SBux contact email, too.

So, worked the rest of the morning and then went to McD's, which was uneventful, except for the really attractive female that was parking and getting out of her car to go in. . .but never actually went in. Huh. Couldn't figure that out.

Anyway, I worked until around 2. Fiddled with guitar a bit (not as productive as yesterday), and then went to post office and mailed Michele's card and then decided to go up to Fred Meyer and get a new hose and sprayer. They have these "Pocket Hoses" that are all scrunched up and then expand. Great idea, very compact and light, but they're kinda flimsy. One lasted two years and one was bad right out of the box. Let's hope this one does okay.

Came home, played guitar some more and then made dinner. Walked at NGate (rain) and I bought some shoes, classic Puma's. I left my old ones at home in FdL.

11 April 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Went to Sunday[sic] and church this morning with Louise. After church she went to grandma's with me for dinner. Came home and worked and worked on my Plymouth all afternoon. Went down and [brough ron proach] tonight. After that Louise and I went down to the Donut Shop$.70 eats. We got home after walking [frouthy] place to her at about 12:00/ Spent $.70.
Lot of that was tough to read.

I had a pretty good day. Of course, since it's Monday I slept until almost 5. . . .grrr. I mean, grrr because I didn't do that over the weekend. Really had a great workout, too. Came home and started on Coptic stuff because I wanted to get Sharon her data, so I did that, but also found that Richard (in Kenya) had some sort of data file that said who all transferred in and out of which clinic to which other clinic. That could solve a lot of problems. WHY DID NO ONE EVER TELL ME ABOUT THIS BEFORE. So I hope that works out for everyone.

I went to Cascadia as soon as I could and worked pretty steadily until almost noon on the Fort Ebey stuff. Mostly today was typing in the probe table. Kind of a pain but it had to be done. I went for lunch at NGate and then came back and finished the table and then fiddled around with other stuff with it until about 2. Remembered that I had to go to the Spam's Club and did that, forgetting what it was the Spousal Unit needed me to get (sudafed). I made another stop at the Riot Aid to get a card for Michele. $7! But it was a nice blank one by Papyrus. Of course, then it needed extra postage so the dumb thing cost me. . . .well, only about the price of the card because someone left 47 cents in postage in the machine so we came home with that and used an old stamp. Still, $7 for a card! Oh well, she's worth it.

Came home and fiddled with guitar a bit. I'm learning a piece of a song by The Traveling Wilburys, although technically just one bit of it that's interesting and will help with my fingering technique. Ordered pizza in and had salad with it. Went to UVil for bagels and some, um, probiotic stuff cuz my guts are still kinda messed up from the antibios. Ugh. Going to practice the riff for a bit and then write more.

10 April 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Ron came down and woke me up this morning. Went down town with him and then stayed at his place for dinner. Bought myself another record $.40. Worked the[sic] Dodge off this afternoon. Ron came down to Grandma's and [qts] this evening Louise and I went to the [Say flat I've] tonight $1.50. Went out and parked until about 2:00 this morning after the dance. Eats $.40. Got to bed about 3:00 this morning. Spent $2.30.
Not a bad day today. Didn't sleep all that well. I didn't go to Mass either since I didn't sleep all that well. I did get quite a bit done though. After breakfast I swept and Swiffered the kitchen floor and scraped whatever wouldn't come up with that. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SPRUCE NEEDLE IN THIS HOUSE.

I did take a bit of a nap this morning, too. I went downstairs and finished watching Outland. It's a 1981 movie (Sean Connery) that I really liked back then and still do. It's a typical Western but set in space, around Jupiter. Lots of problems and kinda predictable, but I always liked it. After that was over I napped and then turned on Conan the Barbarian (the Arnold Schwarzeneggar one from 1984). I actually didn't watch much of that one. We went to UVil and did the usual stuff. My guts are still messed up from the antibio's.

When we got back I mowed the yard. Hardly anything to actually mow in the back. I need to get a lawn service going and get the grass and stuff looking halfway decent. Did some dandelion pulling as well.

I'm going to start writing up what I've gone through over the past, well, 15 years or so. I was going to let Michele read it so she could maybe use it in her practice. We kind of went through many of the same things. Besides, it might be cathartic for me. Going to try to write a little bit every night.

9 April 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Louise came down this morning and stayed until noon. She went to dinner at Grandma's with me today. After dinner I spaded the garden. Louise had to leave at about supper time. Slept a little while after supper. Louise and her sister and her girl friend drove around town, until about 10:00. Gas $.50. Got to bed tonight about 12:30. Am not sleepy at all tonight. Spent $.50.
Happily, I received a couple texts from Michele this morning. Very happy. Well, she decided to actually go through with the divorce from husband #3. She'd been putting it off for a couple of years. I told her she needed to get it done, hope it helped. I feel bad for her. But I feel happy for me to have found her again.

So what else. Slept fine most of the night, although I woke up at some point and had a wicked anxiety attack (or whatever) and laid on the floor for quite a while completely uncovered I was so warm. Slept solidly after that until about 4:15. Took a nap around 8:30-9. We went to McD's for breakfast because I had been "jonesing for" (craving) a sausage and egg McMuffin. A double. Heh. Man that was good. Before the nap I swept and dust mopped the living room and hallway floors really well. TO REMOVE ALL SPRUCE NEEDLES. After the nap I went out and swept the driveway and sidewalks. TO REMOVE ALL SPRUCE NEEDLES. Here was my Facebook post for this morning:
Weekend projects:
-- Sweep house floors to remove Every. Single. Spruce needle.
-- Vacuum vehicles to remove Every. Single. Spruce needle.
-- Buy leaf blower for driveway and use to remove Every. Single. Spruce needle.
-- Cut down #€€{%@! spruce tree.
Also trimmed up the evergreen by the sidewalk. Didn't take too long. Then we hung out a bit and went out to two estate sales. Spousal Unit got a tree skirt. I almost bought a hat. Had lunch at the 5 Guys Burgers at NGate, although I had a hot dog. We then walked all the way through the mall and went to the Target where I ordered some contact lenses. The one I put in yesterday hurt like the dickens at the gym and still didn't feel right today. I got a couple trial ones so I can at least replace this one. Let's see. . . . .then we went to Sam's Club but left because I forgot my card, then to ice cream, and then the QFC by NGate for dinner and breakfast stuff and then home. I bottled up my latest batch o' beer -- 15 bottles -- and all went well with that. Was going to mow the lawn but Daisy was finally by the back door and I didn't want to scare her away, so I went and played my guitar for a while. Half an hour of practice. I have a drill that is actually strengthening my fingers. Progress is still slow, however. Made salad for dinner and then walked.

Oh, last night before we walked an attractive (but pregnant) asian female was walking her dog across the street and said hello and then asked me about our cherry trees (blooming) and so we chatted for a bit. Nice young lady. I didn't ask her if she was preggars because I could be wrong and that would be bad. But she was.

So good day. Pleasant weather. Michele back.

8 April 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Got up about 8:00 this morning. Louise came down just after we got done eating. Had a [that ken] marching practice at [Larson] Park this morning. After dinner at Grandma's I work in the basement on my rack [outfit]. After supper got cleaned up and Louise came down and we went and played a dance at U.S.O tonight. Got home and in bed about 1:25 this morning.
I still think it's neat that they play for USO dances.

I slept really, really well last night. Didn't wake up until after 4:40. TV was still out so I *GASP!* ate breakfast at the little kitchen table. Had a really good workout, too. Being able to walk just gave me a lot of energy. Musta looked okay cuz about three females kept checking me out. That's a good thing. Probably the Captain America shirt.

I went to Cascadia pretty quickly because I wanted to get a bunch done so I could have the afternoon free. Finished up one report and then read through another one and did some piddly work until 11:40. Went for lunch at NGate and then swapped the cable boxes. Then gassed up the Civic and got it washed. It was filthy with pollen. Popped home for just a bit and then went to UVil. Went to Tall's to see if they had centimeter scales but no. Sat in the SBux. My right contact lens has hurt all day. Think it's a bad one. So I need to get new ones. Spousal Unit was home late but I was busy chatting with the cable people to get things to work. One does at least. After I'm done here I'll be getting the other one to work. Hopefully. Really not liking this new system they have.

So, another nice day. Still feel really good, probably hungover from the foot being fixed. I hope it keeps up.

Haven't heard from my cousin Michele in almost a week now. Hope everything's okay. I hope we're okay.

Thursday, April 7, 2016

7 April 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Wednesday):
Roy came down this morning and took me down to [dam's] field for 3 hours of marching practice. This afternoon Louise went down and got her drivers license. We ate dinner and supper at Grandma's. Louise drove me up to lookout point for a while tonight. Also sat around down at her place while her parents were gone until after midnight. Am a little sleepy tonight.

My foot is fixed. I went to the sports medicine clinic again this morning and they took some x-rays, had yet another person come in and look at my foot -- Nicole said it was "an orthopedist's dream" -- and then she started digging around the original wound site to maybe open it up and let it drain, etc. So she was doing that and we were chatting and then she said "I think I've got something." !!!!! She dug around a little more and then after 2-3 seconds of stinging pain she emerged with. . . . .a half inch long spruce needle.

Which I looked at and said "It's a fucking spruce needle."

*whew* She put it in a plastic container and showed it to the other person and I took it with me, and it is sitting on my desk as I type this. She said to wear the boot for maybe another week until it heeled up, but I ditched it right when I came home. I'm about 95%; can barely feel it except when I step on it just right and even then it's a minor pain. I wore two socks on that foot the rest of the day, when I wasn't barefoot in flipflops. I was so happy. I went and got my hair cut, and then went to UVil to get dinner and I just sat outside and had a big ol' mocha frappucino and was content. Imagine: I walked around for almost 2 months with a half-inch long spruce needle embedded in my foot.

I hugged the physician before I left, I was so happy. Good thing she was a female. . .  .

Anyway, that's the major news. I feel like I just woke up. I want to put my entire life between now and maybe 1984 behind me and just move ahead.

Well, other than that not much happened. (Isn't that enough?)

Slept okay last night but woke up at 3:45. Don't know if I went back to sleep or not. Felt okay though. TV was all wonky tonight.

6 April 2016 (Wednesday)

On this day in 1954 (Tuesday):
Dad took Louise and I to church at 11:00 this morning. Louise came to dinner with us today and afterwards we went and practiced at [Holly's]. Louise played a solo at church this evening. Did real good. Drove around town with some of the kids from [my] at school tonight. Got in here about 11:30. Church offering $.05. Spent $.05.
I guess today was a pretty good day overall. Managed to sleep reasonably well, on the floor since the couch was taken up by cats when I went out there. Oddly, I woke up twice, once when I went out there and once later on, requiring 1/4 ambien both times. I say 'oddly' because although I was awake and having difficulty getting back to sleep, I didn't have any sort of anxiety attack (or whatever). Wasn't thinking much about anything in particular, but I suppose it's good news that I didn't have one of those.

Workout went well. Actually, quite well, it was back day and I worked pretty hard. Gads, lots of females down there today. Not complaining, just pointing out the fact. Came home, ate bagel, and went to Cascadia pretty quickly, since there were things I needed to get done. Actually worked quite steadily once again. We're taking the job on Roche Harbor next to the old Tarte place very cautiously. Apparently, the tribes didn't like that I hadn't discouraged the owners from building. Hey, sweethearts, that's not my job. We advise.

Anyway, worked there through lunch (meaning, I went out and got some and came back). I went to the post office to get a box and postage to mail a shell sample for radiocarbon dating. When I got home I spent a panicked 5 minutes trying to find the stupid sample. It had gone into one of the slots on the inside and for some reason I didn't see it. Sheesh. So I took it to UVil to pop it in the mail and check out the scenery there (meh), and discovered my phone wasn't working. I mean, not receiving any cellular signal at all. It hadn't sent a text earlier, but I figured it was just some goofy thing. Happily there's a Verizon store in UVil so I just popped in and they replaced the SIM card and then it worked.

I practiced guitar for almost an hour this afternoon and wasn't pleased. I really wanted to just practice chord transitions -- D to C to G etc. -- but really didn't think I was doing too well. This was one of those times that I felt like I haven't improved at all.

Now, we went back to UVil to get dinner stuff and walk, and at one point I said we'd better leave soon cuz I hadn't closed the back door. So the Spousal Unit said some bad language and how awful it was for me to leave it open, etc.

Okay, so it turned out she'd closed it.

5 April 2016 (Thursday)

On this day in 1954 (Monday):
Went to school at 9:30 this morning. It was raining so we didn't have to march this morning. Was a little tired all day today. Dad came after Louise and me after school tonight and Louise drove for a while. After supper at Grandma's I came home and slept a little bit. Went down and watched Television at Louise's place this evening. Saw Ron on the way home. Got to bed about 11:00.
Did I sleep well last night? Why, yes, I did.

But only until about 3:45. Dangitall. Still and all, I felt pretty good all day, no nodding off at work or anything. I really tried to go back to sleep but didn't work. Oh well. I didn't really "work out" since I didn't want to put all that pressure on my foot so I just did a bunch of ab stuff and then rode the cycle for a half an hour. Was dropped off at the gym so I went to the rotunda and ate my bagel there and then went downtown.

Rowena just laughed at my foot. Which was fine. I do, too. I had quite a bit to do today, too, Rachel is having some difficulty with ARV start dates so I was looking into that, but then she mentioned a problem that I maybe hadn't thought of, that is, duplicate HopeIDs that transfer to a different clinic. See, there are three clinics and, unfortunately, they sometimes used the same ID numbers for different patients. So a person who went to one site might get ID# 11111, while another person at another site might also get ID# 11111. Technically you can separate them (which I did) by adding the site code (e.g., 11111-1 and 11111-2). BUT. Sometimes (around 500 times, it turns out) they can transfer care to another site. Soooooooo. . . .if our first 11111 above transferred to the other site. . . .would they get a new ID? If so, how were their old records linked to their new ID? Have I screwed it up with the wrong Site suffix? Ergh.

Anyway, I was kept pretty busy but it was a nice and productive day. I like being needed.

Sadly, the 3:11 76 bus never even showed up so I had to stand around outside on my foot for another half an hour. Hate them. Happily with cell phones you can send off an email while you're still really annoyed. Got home and then walked, etc. Foot's doing okay. The back part has pretty much healed but I think the front one -- the original injury spot -- may still have something going on. I have a feeling that Thursday she'll dig around in that one and make me wear the boot for another week. grrr.

4 April 2016 (Monday)

On this day in 1954 (Sunday):
Dad took Louise and I to church at 11:00 this morning. Louise came to dinner with me today and afterwards we went and practiced at [Hacky's]. Louise and I stayed here at the house most of the afternoon. What fun. Louise played a solo at church this evening. Did real good. Drove around town with some of the kids from [uy] at school tonight. Got in here about 11:30. Church offering $.05. Spent $.05.
Yeah, I wonder what they were doing that was "fun". . . . .

Weird day today. I did not manage to get rid of last night's anxiety attack (or whatever) around 3. I took 1/4 ambien and slept on the floor the rest of the night and felt pretty good. I really had a good workout this morning, too. Felt hardly any of the tiredness during any of the sets.

I came home and did some work work and then headed to Cascadia around 9:30. I had my drink in the center console of the Mustang and it spilled which prompted me to write a Car Lust post on the stupid little "cup dimples" on old glove compartment lids. Useless things. Anyway, this is probably a shorter post than usual because I did that in one shot. Actually, all I did at work this morning was. . . .work. I just felt like plugging away at the report so that's what I did. Looked up and it was 5 minutes to noon. Left there around 1:30, went to UVil to cash check and get dinner. Walked a bit outside tonight, foot did okay.

Sunday, April 3, 2016

3 April 2016 (Sunday)

On this day in 1954 (Saturday):
Slept in until about 11:15  Took the bus down to the church and then went to [put] from there. [Last] went out leaving me to drive the Dodge today. [Shine] it a [fossil jab] this evening. Played for a [Tecey] Club dance tonight. Dad took Louise and I [in] for us [the] Donut Shop Eats $1.40. Coke $.05. Got in and in bed about 3:00 this morning. Am a little tired tonight. Spent $1.45.
A pleasant day today. I slept really well, although at some point I woke up and started to get what seemed like it was going to be a really intense anxiety attack (or whatever) and. . . .it just dissipated. I'd started doing my new(ish) little game of thinking of the first word that starts with 'A' that I can come up with, then 'B', etc., and it just went away and I went back to sleep.

Spousal Unit didn't get up until almost 7 and we went out for breakfast since we had nothing in the house. When we got back, I did a few little chores, but mostly sat around. Watched the start of the NASCAR race (Martinsville) and then went out for lunch and get the SuBAru washed; loads of tree pollen covering everything lately. Did the usual stuff at UVil. Came back and then I finished reading my cousin's book, There's Always a Rainbow. Not too bad. Self published so it could really have used editing, but there was a lot of what I call Truth with a capital-T in it. Much of it is kind of well-traveled territory, such as thinking positively, envisioning what it is you want, etc. Today's chapters were about always being grateful for what you have -- always a good thing to keep in mind -- and the sorts of positive thoughts that convince yourself that you will achieve what you want. Learned an awful lot about her, too. I am really very regretful that we were not in contact for so long. (Wait, that's negative!) Well, I won't say 'regretful' really; it makes me sad. A good sort of sad, but sad. I really do adore her.

Anyway, after that (I read it in the sun in the back yard) I did a couple more chores and vacuumed the SuBAru out. The inside had the usual spruce needles all over, but yesterday we found a bunch of snails in the engine. Well, dead snail shells actually. I don't know why they would crawl up in there except for the warmth. Well, they got warmth later.

I walked for the first time since I got the boot. I mean, walked around outside. I think it's starting to heal since it didn't hurt much today. Was sunny and 68, just an awesome day weather-wise.

2 April 2016 (Saturday)

On this day in 1954 (Friday):
Had a marching practice this morning. Also a letterman assembly. Had another test in History class. Louise came down after school until about 5:00 went[sic] I went to eat. Had [says the] had drawing the dodge and Louise and I, [Vendon] and Bob went down to the [Tuly] and played pool $1.00. [Wai'nt do] went to a mid-night show at the drive-in $2.00. Sat out in the car with Louise after the show [kid] then went wonderful night I sure had. Got in about 4:00. Eats $.30 Spent $3.20.
Listening to a Jeff Beck album right now, old vinyl. I've never had a Beck album before. 'Truth' 1968. Not bad but not really something I would really get into I don't think. The surface looked okay but it is kinda scratchy and poppy. The mother-in-law has a bunch and I borrowed it. But I could keep it if I wanted.

I slept pretty well last night. Until just before 4:30, no assistance. We ate in this morning although I would have gone out. Didn't do much most of the morning. We left for Gig Harbor around 10:45 and stopped at Borracchini's on Rainier Ave to get the father-in-law's b-day cake. Got a couple donuts while there, too. Their TV was out so it was kind of a nice afternoon without it. I took one nap this morning and one down there this afternoon. Don't know if I was just relaxed or if these antibx's are getting to me. Foot was sore this afternoon for a while and felt a little swollen in a small area. Might have been resting it in a bad position. We ate at 2:30; meat was mostly not cooked well enough. You have to cook ribs for at least a couple of hours. After that I went and put gas in the car and got a quart of oil for it. The cousin-in-law's boyfriend, a mechanic, said SuBAHru's eat oil. So, huh. I thought modern engines could go forever without adding oil. Well, there you go then. Also stopped into the Riot-Aid and got some sucky thingies and then the Goodwill just in case.

I didn't drive today, it was kind of nice to just be a passenger and look around and stuff. Sunny, around 65-70ish.

1 April 2016 (Friday)

On this day in 1954 (Thursday):
Dad took me to school this morning. Had a really [spend] tryouts in and[sic] assembly this morning. Had another test in history this morning. Stayed after school to take a Biology test. After dinner at Grandma's [Louise] walked and I talked to her for a while. Played for the U.S.O dance tonight at the Y.M.C.A. Got home about 11:45. [Walked] around a little before going to bed. Coke $.05. Spent $.05.
Interesting day today. I woke up in the middle of the night and had to take a double whammy of ambien because I was all . . .wired up? Just kind of restless. Cats were on the couch so I went to the floor and once I got to sleep slept like the dead. I woke up shortly before 4:30 feeling like I'd been zonked out for hours (which I may have been; I rarely look at the clock). I had a really good workout. I didn't wear my boot to and from the gym. Eh, it felt okay.

Came home, ate bagel, went to Cascadia. Didn't do much there except talk a bit with TT about the project next week. Did some other piddling stuff. I left there by 10:30 or so and went to Spam's Club for a couple of things. While I was gassing up there an older lady started talking to me about my car and how she had a '57 Chevy but her former husband sold it after they separated and she got $1700 from it and her second husband was much better. Heh. Nice lady.

I ate lunch at home, ramen noodle. Cats still don't like the Giant Gray Boot of Death.

And then I went and met Fiona. It's been like 2 years since we almost even chatted on email. Still don't know what the deal was, but maybe she just got tired of me or something. Anyway, we had a nice visit. Sat outside of SBux because it was sunny and 72 or so. Foot felt fine most of the day although I had to adjust it a couple of times, mainly to keep other parts of my foot from hurting. On the antibx regimen, 6 pills a day. Yuck. Have to go have the last one after I'm done with this.

Walked at NGate.
